When it comes to caring for Silver Dollar Fish, it's important to provide them with a spacious tank with plenty of hiding places and a well-established filtration system. They prefer a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5 and a temperature range of 72-82 degrees Fahrenheit. It's also important to provide them with a varied diet of high-quality pellets, frozen or live foods, and occasional vegetables.

Good video. I had a few back in the 1980s as a kid. My late grandmother picked them out. She loved the color silver. Good memories.

I have a breeding pair in a 50 gallon community tank. Just the two of them and I have had them for 25 yrs. In the same 50g tank. My wife and I absolutely love them. They will be missed greatly when they pass. Definitely will buy another male and female when gone. I think this bond they have with each other is the key to there longevity..

They can certainly live well beyond 10 years if well kept. I have a mixed school of Silver Dollars and Red Hook Silver Dollars that are over 15 y/o and they are going strong. They are awesome fish if provided with a spacious tank. They can recognize me as their caretaker and are not afraid of me, but they will shy away from anyone that approaches the tank, and they have a sense of timing and know when feeding time is approaching and will start dancing in the front of the tank waiting for their food. Lovely fish!

Thanks for the descriptive story on the silver dollar. I've got 3 fish that has survived murky water, neglected by my friend. They have served through 3 years. I intend taking over and follow your every word. I now see they are an interesting group. Thank you.
