What Being An Ellen Degeneres Audience Member Is Really Like

Social Media users are calling out ellen, yet again, but this time its over a resurfaced video where ellen shamed an audience member for stealing. But it’s not that simple. Ellen set up a social experiment where she put out a bunch of free merch on a table to see if her audience members would take more than one item, then she shamed the audience member on national television. At the time, the joke seemed in good fun, but now that ellen’s on screen persona is being called into question, people are calling this ‘social experiment’, just plain bullying.

And years ago I still remember when it aired. It was the last time my mom ever watched Ellen. While I was just like: "aw, shes just joking", my mom flat out called it bullying and never watched again. Should have listened to my mom. She knew what was up.

I don’t sympathize that woman’s behavior, but ffs it’s not stealing if those items were for free and the policy was only the “polite note”, not some legal subject. Dragging your fan down like this is very low. Her empire lost nothing from this act.
At very least they could’ve show the footage with the person being blurred and laugh at the situation and same time saying “I’m watching you”.
