I do not own Carrie the Musical (though I wish I did!) This is just my favorite musical and I want to share it with the world!

Lyrics:
CARRIE
Jesus watches from the wall,
But his face is cold as stone.
If he loves me,
Why do I feel so all alone?
Baby Savior, meek and mild,
What do you do with my prayers?
If you hear me,
Why do I feel that no one cares?
There's a movement in my head,
Can you understand the change?
Something's shifting,
Something's lifting.
Why do I feel it's something strange?

MARGARET
Father Almighty,
She's only a child
But the woman is waking inside her.
She will be lost if her passion runs wild,
So I can't let her stumble and fall.
As you helped your child divine,
Give me the strength to help mine.

CARRIE:
Momma sees inside my soul,
But her face is cold as stone.
If she loves me,
Why do I feel so all alone?

MARGARET
You can go to bed now, Carrie.

CARRIE
Yes, Momma.

MARGARET
You must forget what happened today.

CARRIE:
Yes, Momma.

MARGARET
The Lord will protect us.

CARRIE
Yes, Momma.

MARGARET
God will forgive us.

CARRIE
Yes, Momma.

MARGARET
Say your prayers.

CARRIE:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
Pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I die before I wake,
Pray the Lord my soul to take.

MARGARET
I never wanted to cause you such pain,
But there are times when life is so fright'ning.
Maybe I do things that I can't explain,
But my feelings for you never change.
You are still my precious one.
Can you forgive what I've done?

CARRIE
Momma, you don't need forgiveness from me.

MARGARET
I was wrong, and it hurts me to have to hurt you.

CARRIE
Oh, I know that you do what you have to.

MARGARET
I'd rather die than see you suffer.

CARRIE
I want to dry all your tears so you'll see that I'm

MARGARET
Someday you'll thank me for lighting the way.

CARRIE
Sorry for letting you down.

MARGARET
Can you look inside your heart?

CARRIE
Won't you bless me now?
Can you look inside your heart?

MARGARET
That's where forgiveness must start.

CARRIE
Can you look inside your heart?
Oh, Momma, show me the mercy that you've always shown.

MARGARET
After all, we have no one except each other.

CARRIE
I depend on your goodness to guide me

MARGARET
The world outside can't understand you

CARRIE
I'm so afraid, if they'd just leave me alone
And I'd die if you pushed me away

MARGARET
When you feel the betrayal, I'll always be here

CARRIE
Promise you'll be here

MARGARET
You're the reason I'm alive

CARRIE
You're the reason I'm alive

MARGARET
You're the only reason I survive

CARRIE
I survive

MARGARET & CARRIE
In my life, there's only one thing true,
I will always love you.

I will die on the hill defending this as one of the greatest duets in all of Broadway history.

I actually prefer this to revival version. It's so hauntingly beautiful (The revival is still amazing though!)

My whole body crawls into goosebumps when Margaret says "say your prayers" with that melody in the background...my God.

Wow wow wow, simply stunning! What wonderful singers and performers both Betty and Linzi are. Saw Linzi in Carrie at Stratford upon Avon with Barbara Cook

This is probably the best quality recording I've heard so far! Well done :D Did you do any tweaking? It's interesting listening to this version back to back with the new version since this is one of the ones that survived mostly intact. For good reason, it's a gorgeous song. I wish they'd kept it in this key in the revival.

I have nothing against Betty Buckley...Saw her in Edwin Drood, Cats and Sunset Blvd. Like her voice but she was miscast in this role.   It was like like a cross between Jerry Falwell and Norma Desmond.   Marin Mazzie in the off broadway production and Misty Cotton in the LA Production nailed it.
