The first Godzilla film was the original 1954 film Gojira.

There like 36 Godzilla movies only 5 of those are American made.

her point was and question was just misunderstood. When she was saying "foreign film". she meant was " is this movie something that wasn't made by North American Hollywood studios?".
Don't worry your question was valid and important. I only commented because I read your body language it just looked to me as if you were asking an honest question and just needed someone to understand what you meant to answer back.

But yes you are absolutely right. It is a movie made by an overseas studio. This studio is not just any studio. But the soul birth and creation of Godzilla, Kaijuu ( Monsters ) films and franchise. The Toho team have made over 36 films collectively over the years. They allowed the release of the character Godzilla into American markets so hollywood could tell there version of how they see Godzilla. Now we get to see Godzilla back to it's origins, to remind us of how Godzilla was a real symbolic thing in Japan and has such a deeper meaning to his story.

What makes this movie so powerful and impactful. Is you get to see the VFX (visual effects), Story Writing, and direction of the film all being done by Takashi Yamazaki.

so when basically when viewers get to watch the sheer destructive Godzilla that in some way is known across the globe on the big screen. We will be watching a Masterpiece displayed through the eyes of the man who created Godzilla and the story he wanted the world to see where his inspirations came from.

That deeper heavy emotional and mental connection is felt throughout the trailer, visually and through audio to really capture you into this story.

The anime influences in these films, the use of vfx to create visual art but honoring their Tokusatsu roots and the meaningful stories they are telling stand well above the laconic American versions that border are 1970 Godzilla silliness. Do yourselves a favor, do the research, read the history before you guffaw at men in costumes.
