Ho I remember this episode . Turn out that girl was actually a friendly bug digimon how was scared her new friend would reject her . Overall the most wholesome digimon episode because it just ended on a happy note

This series was so dark from Ruli being possessed and trying to eat everyone to this episode watching you’re friends, family and just normal civilians be mutated into horrifying monsters that even after their painful transformation are still in constant pain because all they chant is it hurts! It hurts! It hurts!

Fun fact: this was not the first time Niijima-san was a victim of a evil Digimon’s schemes.
In an earlier episode: she was turned into a ball of water as part of Splashmon’s plan to create a beauty serum out of human fear.
Both that and turning into a human spider hybrid was eventually reversed at the end thanks to the digidestined.
She is going to need therapy after this still.
