President Biden to apologize for US involvement in Indian Schools

My grandfather testified in front of Congress about the abuses he witnessed at Carlisle Indian School over 100 years ago. He was not seeking an apology, reparations or justice. He was seeking a better quality of life for the youth who came to follow. It is not the schools we need to apologize for per se, but the abuses of power that were common knowledge. We have the same problem today in the troubled teen camps. They do not live up to the ideals they promised, and we are well aware of what happens there, yet turn a blind eye and let it continue. We need policies, not apologies, that protect children, all children, from institutional abuse.

My great-grandfather who lived to be a 108 years old and was a member of the Cherokee Indian Warrior Council lobbied, hard and heavy against the TIN's (Territorial Indian Nation schools). He wad also, friends with, Isparhachar, who was against the measure as well.

Sadly the government at that time did indeed turn a blind eye and didn't want to hear anything about any kind of protest against this type of forced schooling.
