'What the heck happened there?' | Concerns grow over unfinished Austin development

Neighbors near the subdivision in South Austin say more than a dozen homes have sat unfinished and vandalized for a year.

Everybody should be able to figure out what happened. Since construction stopped just after interest rates went up it is a safe bet to assume that the builder ran out of money and credit, abandoned the project and probably left town. Not too complicated. The only question left is how long it will take the city or county to foreclose due to unpaid property taxes at which point they will send the property to auction. A new owner will then tear down the old structures and rename, redesign and build anew. But this could take several years.
