Day 180 of our world travel sabbatical and part 2️⃣5️⃣ of our travel sabbatical adventures in the Nordics! 🇫🇮
We spent 10 days in Finland as country 18 of our world travel sabbatical 🌍. This was our favorite Nordic country by far given how much cheaper costs were compared to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and how multicultural the capital was. Even the little town of Rovaniemi where Santa Claus 🎅 and his reindeer 🦌 live carried so many unique Asian drink and snack brands despite not having that many Asian restaurants.
We also loved experiencing for ourselves the way of life in Finland, and can see why it’s the happiest 🙂 country in the world. There’s so much free and cheap access to resources like the amazing Oodi Library 📖, sustainable and delicious food 🥗, and the signage across the city translated into multiple languages including Chinese 🇨🇳

We budgeted our costs across these categories:
✈️ Transportation (Flights, train, Ubers)
🏠 Lodging (Airbnb)
🍛 Food (🦌🐟)
🎉 Activities (🖼)
📲 Other (refrigerator magnet, health insurance, e-SIM)
Our daily budget we’re trying to stick to is $250/day as full-time travelers and we spent:
Country total = $2,060.37
Daily average = $206.04
Total running daily average = $243.52
At $206, we were under our $250 daily budget for Finland and we're happy about that.
