Being a human town bordering hobbit territory it makes so much sense and speaks volumes of everyday interaction between them.

When I read the books, this is exactly what I imagined Bree looking like. That goes for a lot of settings in Jackson's movies. He really captured the book descriptions extremely well in places like Bree.

For some reason, I really enjoyed the village of bree. The folks seem rough at first, but just some agricultural and blue collar folk! Everything about this scene is amazing 👏

Isn’t the gatekeeper not doing his job right? I mean he most likely thought they’re just hobbits but basically the conversation is

Even though Bree is supposed to look scary to the Hobbits in the movie, I feel like most folk there are like the gatekeeper or Barliman Butterbur. They're not bad or anything, just ordinary folk trying to live in peace. I always felt bad that the Nazghul kill the gatekeeper when they arrive, he has so much character for someone who has a grand total of like 3 minutes of screentime
