Based on James Clavell’s novel, FX’s Shōgun is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

As a Dutchman, seeing that battered Fluyt sail trough the mist is so awesome. Must've been the weirdest sight for the Japanese. They were sturdy vessels.

I like that they have shown a lot of the world in the trailers without giving much away as to the actual plot. I can guess some of the scenes from the original series and reading the books (e.g when Omi tries to take Blackthorne's pistol, when Lord Buntaro shows his skill in archery etc. but you don't actually see anything spoilt.

It’s funny how the Europeans back then say the Japanese were savages, when they’re literally 10x more hygienic then them and have a similar system or government . 😊

One thing I noticed is the shocking lack of firearm use by the Japanese. If this was around 1600, japan was supposed to be full of them. Some say 25, 000 guns was used in Sekigahara. That was a battle where around 200, 000 people fought. That is like 1/8 was using a gun.

How many ppl in the woke BS, weed infused young minds of these lazy generation z or even millennials, have ever read the great book this awesome show comes from that respects the authors mindset? This is a show you set aside time specially to watch w/o interruptions. This is a story woven in majestic plot & writings that has changed lives! Japan is the most Perfect Country, w/ the most perfect ppl, having the most perfect Culture, food & traditions. I can assure anyone watching this that you will never be the same after esp after reading the book. You have no idea the change coming to your life or thinking that will endow you as 'exceptional'…
