After 9 albums with Epica, singer Simone Simons released a solo album in collaboration with Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), a project to which she has already contributed her voice.

This album is called Vermillion and Simone remains faithful to her symphonic metal roots.

From the first track "Aeterna", we recognize the compositional touch of Arjen Lucassen with his oriental melodies.

Simone sings with emotion and with a dramatic side on certain pieces (Fight or flight).

“Cradle to the grave” marks the collaboration with the famous Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy for an explosive track.

The duo works brilliantly and this track is an epic moment from the album that is absolutely worth it!!!

The music remains decidedly heavy and the melodies and vocal lines highlight Simone's beautiful voice.

The lyrics address current topics like artificial intelligence as well as existential questions and our place in this world.

In summary, "another" successful musical album from the brilliant composer Arjen Lucassen who had the good idea of highlighting the voice of the singer from Epica!

An album to recommend for fans of symphonic metal and Ayreon!

Maybe in the future Arjen will make another solo album from one of his singers from the Ayreon project.....

I'm launching the idea in this case..... :)
