You're too hard on yourself... you did a masterful job building the jig; it's always a delight watching and learning from you. Thank you for taking us along Toby!

You didn't fail, you learned something. That is far more valuable. Plus, you saved the spider.

Add a spacer on top of the tool to hold the breaker bar up. Tool can sit down all the way and more surface for the breaker bar drive.

Our worst critic is always ourselves, Toby. Mistakes are part of being human. Don't be so hard on yourself. As you said, you have it in your memory bank. That's wisdom talking right there.

That tool/jig you made to hold it on your bench was awesome. :-)

You are a hell of a fabricator! Caterpillar themselves couldn’t have come up with a better jig! We’ve all broken our share of parts in engineering! Keep up the good fight!

I’m so impressed by your creativity when making a tool. Somethings don’t always go according to plan and then turn into a learning moment. And tools don’t have to be pretty. They just have to work. Great video. Thanks!

Squatch is SOOO multi talented. Yeah, the tech stuff is a given but the production of these videos is getting to be masterful.

Squatch, if you make a mistake after putting in so much effort to save it, a ol fart like me wouldn't have a prayer. It's why I love to watch your channel. I learn so much... Thanks, and keep up the good work!

We all learned a great deal from just this one episode (just as we have with many others throughout your projects)....that is, necessity is indeed the mother of invention, you removed the spline, you discovered the plates were beyond restoration and use, and you learned to exercise a fine balance of triumph flavored with a touch of humility. Be well my friend.

Well my dad always said there where somebody works there is always falling chips!
On the end you have managed to get the spider in good condition out, with a handy home made handy tool.
Loving your posts looking forward to the next one again!

As you did this at 3:00 minutes I had a flashback on the pre-combustion Chambers the O-ring. Oh, Squatch watch I'm sorry. I was a thinkin' lid from can o peas, or small mushroom can lid.

You saved the spider, that's all that counts. The rest was tuition.

boy!! thanks soooo much for these videos!! Ive had 11 D4 7U machines and havent had to go inside, but i really appreciate your work in doing a great job in all of this. But even more so in your carefull planning and editing of your videos for all of us!! WOW id never have expected so much detail and comprehensive explanation!! Making errors and giving us detail of all that is most helpful also. I cant think of any of my friends nor I doing anything without making many more mistakes. i didnt know these clutches were metal, id thought they had fiber faces like a car clutch. PUt me down as a confirmed fan for sure!!! Best regards to your skill, your caring to do a great job, and your neatness in the shop and all operations!!!

Squatch, you Magnificent Bastard, that tool/clamp is a thing of beauty. Sorry about the PP, but now we all know to check for that sort of thing. Thank you.
