I was devastated when I learned I couldn’t donate blood. I remember asking the nurse like “oh is it my medication.” And she was trying so hard to basically not say it was due to my sexual orientation. Heterosexuals literally don’t have to have to answer the length of personal questions as gay men did, and I felt so targeted.

BUT THE MAIN PEOPLE THAT MADE HISTORY WERE THE ONES THAT SIGN, THE GROUPS OR PEOPLE WHO SPEAK OUT LOUD, AND YOU! YOU AND OTHER PEOPLE DID THIS. I WANT TO THANK YOU BECAUSE OF THE STUFF YOU DO, YOURE MY HERO, JOSH🤍

as long as the person is healthy, there should be no restrictions for donating blood! this is great

Lesson learned: if you get hurt in the US, and need blood, to heaven you shall go.

This!!!! There is so much discrimination in donating blood. Not only the LGBTQ+ community, but those who struggle with mental illness. When I was in high school, my school ran a blood donation day...filled out all necessary paperwork, sat in the chair. I took off my sweater for arm access during the blood draw (I do have some pretty significant self harm scars-nothing new at the time) The lady who was about to take my blood gasped, grabbed my arm quite aggressively and quickly called for the other nurses to look at my arm. I was told I wouldn't be allowed to donate blood because I could have used something dirty. I was beyond humiliated and extremely upset. I hope things like this will come to light as well 🤍

I actually contacted the red cross about this, a week before this happened they told me it's probably a long time away and they had a lengthy process.

This was a SHOCK.

I am going to donate blood soon.

imagine being pan and you have a rare blood type and your friend has the same blood type as you, and you need to save them by giving them blood, but you can’t bc you’re not gay, bi, or straight

What is it that makes a man is it his pride? Is it his strength is it his ability to protect his family. No it’s inside of him, which is why I let as many men inside of me as I can-Richard rider

I was requested to work in a local blood bank once, I DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR LIFE STYLE IS, as long as you come with a lab report, i will check it to see if you're safe and allowed to donate.
Big thanks for people how donated their blood ❤️

I used to work with the red cross. It was so sad when I had to turn away other gays because of this rule. Blood is so needed in our hospitals, ending the discrimination is gonna help so many people. Victory guys, pure victory. 🌈
