The good looking orcs, which is to say bad looking orcs, are really more of a win for the makeup department rather than the graphics. I suspect they didn't have to mess with them too much because the work done was just that good

There is a great shot of Gandalf going through papers looking for the story of isildur where the story of the last days of Numenor and Ar-Pharazon is told. It is only onscreen for a second but someone wrote it out and made it look beautiful.

Peter Jackson himself went through his trilogy to remaster these for 4k, he really did out his all into it

Do I need to watch the review of a 4K movie in 4k? No. Am I doing it because I can? Absolutely.

Watched the whole trilogy on my Sony X90J with Dolby vision from my Sony 4K Blu ray player. It’s amazing !!! Considering I have watched these films from VHS-DVD-Blu ray. Well worth the $ and the time on 4K for all movie lovers!

I've watched the "making of" segments on the extended editions a few times, particularly the ones about the practical FX. The amount of effort they put into the details for the makeup, prosthetics, sets, costumes... it's just incredible. The fact that a much higher definition just showcases it even BETTER speaks to the skill and dedication that went into these movies. And further cements my preference for practical FX over CGI whenever possible. :) Would love to check these out some time...!

First time watching your channel... Wow, thank you for doing all the leg-work that most of us can't or won't do. I will make sure to keep this in mind for my fellow LOTR-loving friends who own a 4K or OLED TV when their birthdays come around. Kudos!!
