I want to like it but that wet belt puts me off completely. I wish they would prioritize robustness (chain) over minuscule-if any - efficiency gains. Just look at all the 1.0l oil pressure wet belt issues…

My engine blew up yesterday from wet belt issue! 40k, always v-power, always serviced on time with correct oil. NOT HAPPY FORD UK. NOT INTELLIGENTLY DESIGNED.?

Contacted Ford uk and my local Ford dealer regarding the issues of the wet belt failure on these engines in the transit custom. I was told by Ford uk that mine was not part of the recall issues and would not need to be checked, the local main dealer said the same. I got the belt done anyway on advice from Ford that the maintenance schedule had come down from 144-150k miles for the belt change to 100k miles. When the belt was inspected and changed by an independent garage the oil pick up was completely clogged. My engine was probably going to detonate itself sooner rather than a later. I’m still waiting to hear back from Ford uk with their comments on the associated photos I took of the debris from the timing belt.

Biggest pile of crap ever made with the wet belt that snaps and wrecks the engine what a stupid design!

this is the worst modern Ford diesel engine of all time. Not even comparable to the old Duratorq ones, so that's why there are still plenty of old Everest & Mazda-based Ford Ranger on the road.

Getting my wetbelt changed at 72k kms as I fear the belt snapping . Oil pick up clogging and vac pump also being clogged. Also had the discs changed recently as I was having brake pedal feedback issues which lessoned after they were changed. I bought the vehicle with 55k kms and will most likely be selling at 75k kms .
I cant see myself driving another 2.0 engine

I had a new mk7 transit engine fitted. Should the oil be black after 3000 miles. It’s synthetic

Aqui no Brasil vai ser só problema, motor com correia no óleo não da certo, os donos usar óleo não recomendado.

Is this the wet belt engine of death, what engineer thinks putting rubber in oil is a good idea, you learn this the first time you work on an engine as a kid, rubber and oil don’t work together.

Electric thermostats ? known to stick closed, blowing head gaskets and cracking cylinder heads.

has this common problem been addressed with current transit users with this engine ?

it has been a real struggle getting my two fixed in the uk.

i think the dealers and workshops have become frustrated with it
