The “It’s Time” song for Gough Whitlam in the 1972 election was both a mammoth hit and a mammoth celebrity endorsement where just about all of the music industry came out in support. I was 11 at the time but I can still remember the colossal impact that it had on the Australian people and how it helped shift opinion - and votes.
