2020 was the year i realised i no longer like bully romances, too many of them rely on humiliation, degradation and little to no redemption. my determination of whether i like a book or not, particularly bully romances, is whether, if i was the heroine, would i be able to forgive the bully and move on? most of the time now, i can’t imagine myself yearning to be with someone who treated me like that. and that’s on maturity

"The guy she's sleeping with is not the good guy that she thought that he was." No shit. He's cheating on his wife. 😂

You don’t feel like “carrying on” with the series

I was pissed about the In five years book too. I came in thinking this would have some magic, be quirky, kind of like that movie with Rebel Wilson where she wakes up in a rom-com. But nope, the cool premise was literally just a gimmick to get people interested and then it was a completely different story.

I felt you were spot on about “Behind Her Eyes”. There were also so many fat phobic remarks throughout the book that were soooo unnecessary and gross. And that ending made me really upset too cause it was such a lazy plot twist

I rage ranted about behind her eyes so many times!!! This was the first book that actually made me angry. Like thrown across the room out of pure rage and not oh you didn't give a happy ending or killed my favorite character but actual anger.

Apropos nothing, I really enjoy listening to you talk. Your diction, particularly your consonants, are really nice and crisp even though you speak at 2x speed. I have sensory processing issues that impact my auditory processing and I have ZERO problems understanding a word you say. I barely even read romance and still get super excited for new uploads. Your videos are like a nice, refreshing carbonated cucumber water for my ears. Thanks for being a little sensory joy in my life and for taking the time you need to learn and grow so you can continue to show up in this space in a way that feels good for you and others, too.

I'm in the middle of reading for the first time Punk 57 and let's just say it's a spiritual expérience. Also, totally agree with your comments on difference bully romances!

the beginning of the description for behind her eyes sounds a lot like season 1 of greys anatomy

I 100% agree with your opinion on Wayward Son. I looked on goodreads & other boooktuber's channels for their opinion on Wayward Son, but for some reason they all loved it & I felt like no one else was disappointed by how underwhelming it was. It was just a filler book to get to the actual conclusion which will be the 3rd book. Loved hearing your thoughts on all of your worst reads!

We have very different reading tastes, yet I still love your videos and respect your opinions. It's always nice hearing another prospective! You never just slam a book for no reason, so even if you dislike a book I loved, I actually like hearing your criticisms. It makes us better readers if we can accept even our favourite books have faults.

I COMPLETELY relate to your thoughts about Wayward Son. I DNFed it because it was so boring and the plot was just like... why? What's the point? Another book I really didn't like was Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven. I'd heard amazing things and it just... I had so many issues with it and ended up hating it.

I am so so glad you put Behind Her Eyes. I saw so many book tubers rave about this book and I hated it so much I literally threw it across the room at *that* part. I was furious.

For Punk 57 I wouldn’t say our heroine is being bullied when people say it’s a bully romance. She’s the bully and the guy is like what the hell you made yourself out to be so different in your letters. I feel like it’s more of the heroine realising she’s not being the best person and allowing her friends bully others and the guy is trying to help her realise that too.

Totally felt the same about “He Started It”. I absolutely LOVED the first 3/4 of it and really believed that it would be a 5 star fave. That ending though. Sheesh.

Ironically, because I know you actually liked it, my worst read of the year was The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. I wish I'd have just DNFd it but I was too stubborn. The pacing didn't work for me, and the characters didn't work for me, and I called every single plot twist from the very beginning, which lead to a very frustrating over six hundred pages of me waiting to be told something I already knew. I didn't like that it had a character's trans identity be a twist/reveal. The two plotlines of what happened in the past and what was happening in the present felt really disjointed and like they didn't have much to do with each other. And while I'm not a squeamish reader, even I found the repeated flashback of what happened in the past gratuitous and done just to be sensationalist and for shock value. The book just REALLY didn't work for me at all, but I am glad you enjoyed it!.
