Upgrading Moodle can be uplifting, but it can also be a nightmare. To avoid sleepless nights, make sure the theme you're using is compatible with the new Moodle version. You want to update any plugins before the upgrade. Check your database for any unused files. You don't want your server to crash or your upgrade to end up a blank page. Backup your Moodle site and keep it on your desktop or anywhere away from your server.

Moodle has changed quite a bit in the past 17 years, but because I am constantly upgrading sites to the latest Moodle versions and teaching online with Moodle, I get a lot of hands-on practice. Moodle is an amazing Learning Management System or LMS. Moodle provides a platform that allows teachers to support learner autonomy. Teachers can facilitate learning. Learners can experience learning as they engage with the content, each other, and the teacher. I use Moodle for peer team-based learning. I was hoping your viideo would demonstrate how to port over various plugins during the upgrade process as this involves copying of variuos folders from the backup to the latest.

I would let the experts do the upgrades and fix anything that needs fixing and not try to upgrade Moodle on your own. You can pay very little to Softaculous or pay a lot to a Moodle partner. I would not hire "anyone" to do the upgrade. Here's information on how to do it on your own but face the consequences if you mess up.

Hi Dr. Nellie. Thanks for this video. However, most of the js for my Moodle Staging site completely broke. Not sure what is happening. The My Courses option in the left menu cannot contract, and loads extended, also the "Add resources/activities" only works if i click the course in the breadcrumb trail, apart from that it breaks and either brings me to the login page or does nothing at all.

Hi! Do you know if the free version of Softaculous will work for upgrades more recent than Moodle 2.6? (I say this because when you go to the "59 free scripts" on the free version of Softaculous, its says Moodle 2.6)
