French President Emmanuel Macron ruled out naming a prime minister from the leftist New Popular Front alliance and instead started a new round of consultations on Tuesday with parties to try to form a new government, Macron's office said. Realising a government led by the New Popular Front (NFP) would immediately face a no-confidence vote in parliament from all other parties, Macron will confer with party heads and political leaders, the statement said on Monday. FRANCE 24's International Affairs Editor Angela Diffley tells us more.

Macron should choose the candidate from NPF. Vote of non confidence is just their business.

That's what you get if you have made up false definitions for decades and those are now catching up to you.
The FN isn't really on the right, let alone far, they are in the economic dimension pretty close to the center, while the self defined centrist Macron is factually the furthest right of all politicians in France.
On the other side of the spectrum Melènchon is on the left, but certainly not far, he's near the middle of the left half.
This means Macron now has the near impossible task, from his position near the right side wall of the spectrum, forming a coalition with a true left winger, without admitting that he himself isn't and has never been in the center, because if Macron were anywhere near the center the step half across the left side would be much easier than it is from his position way to the right.

What I don't understand in this is why LePen doesn't correct the false definitions and point out that she is (despite being a hefty authoritarian) the true centrist here who is in the horizontal economic dimension closer to the socialists than to Macron.

Who would’ve thought governing a country could be such an unenviable job? No matter what you do, someone’s going to be upset, especially when you’re dealing with three minority parties. If you don’t pick the left, they’ll be upset because they argue they have the largest share of the vote, even if it’s just by a little. But you can’t pick the left either, given it’ll antagonize the other two parties. Whichever way you go, choosing one party means angering the majority of the others.

If the president chooses the centrist party, while it might seem like a logical compromise to minimize the anger from other factions, there’s a significant downside: the centrist party’s unpopularity is closely tied to the president himself. Many perceive this choice as a way for him to cling to power, which can be seen as a form of a political coup. The decision to dissolve the parliament was a bad decision because of all this.

The situation also reveals something crucial: when you have three minority parties, you need time to build coalitions, like they do in Germany. But forming coalitions requires the ability to calmly discuss policy differences and find common ground. Unfortunately, in France, there’s too much personal animosity. It’s become common for politicians to refuse to work together based on personal grievances. They throw around accusations—this one’s an anti-Semite, that one’s a racist, another’s a capitalist sellout. It’s all too much, and it’s making politics toxic.

We need to calm down the rhetoric, across the board. There are too many politicians stoking anger on all sides of the spectrum, and it’s doing more harm than good. The media isn’t helping either, especially with channels funded by billionaires that seem to thrive on spreading anger and division. We need to pull back from this constant hostility and find a way to work together without all the hate.
