The 2nd Kinkiest Rock Song is Walk on the Wild Side. Lou Reed's classic is performed live on Rock Concert October 1, 1980. From his second solo album Transformer in 1972, Walk on the Wild Side was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson. The song received wide radio coverage, despite its taboo topics of transsexual people, drugs, male prostitution, and oral sex ("giving head" is changed on this appearance to satisfy the TV critics). Due to some radio stations' objection, RCA Records provided a version in which "colored girls" was edited out.

The single peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts in early 1973. Rolling Stone ranked Walk on the Wild Side at number 223 in its list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Lou Reed died in 2013.

Ultimate Classic Rock ranked song #2 on 50 most kinkiest rock songs. Pay more attention, it seems, than most radio programmers did and there's a fascinating underworld to explore here from Lou Reed -- including, but not limited to, drugs, transsexuality and male prostitution.
