Sony a6700 Getting the NEW Sony 31 Megapixel Sensor?

The A9 and A7 are both 24 MP. Most photos these days are shown on displays so more MP are not needed.

What I need is a release date for the A6700. I have no doubts it will be better than the A6500. I am "stuck" with the A6300 because of the anticipation. In the meantime, I see A9, A7RIII and A7 come rolling off the assembly line. How about some ASP-C love Sony?

I feel that they should keep the 24 megapixels but use all other improvements to improve low light performance. Remember, as ISO increases, smaller sensors experience a more steep drop off in SNR, dynamic range, and color sensitivity. We need crop sensors that can finally start going over 1600ISO without losing much fine detail. A 31 megapixel sensor does not do much good if when you crank it to ISO 3200, on a resolution test chart, you effectively end up with an 8 megapixel image. Beyond that, I would not mind a set of specialized cameras, e.g., even a 40 megapixel APS-C sensor that is tuned to perform as well as possible between ISO 100-800, where the main users will be wildlife photographers taking daytime photos, and need the pixel density., and then a 20-24 megapixel sensor that is tuned to look good at ISO 100, but also perform well at ISO 3200-6400, focusing on reducing the falloff of the SNR, dynamic range, and color sensitivity at high ISO.

I would be happy just to get 4k @ 60fps, I can live with the dim screen and short battery life (SmallHD fixed that issue)

I do not think we need a new camera, what we really need is knowledge and talent. The internet is full of perfect blanded pictures shot of people without talent / knowledge to tell a story that captures interest :) By the way, I think your channel is ok.

Why do you shoot with G85? Do you shoot in 4k and down grade to 1080 or 1080 straight from the camera?

4K at 108 fps? I'd say don't expect it. They could not even come up with 4K at 60 fps for sensor size of at least an APS-C.

Yeah, I can wait for Nikon to make D7300 with a 30mpix sensor. I need a crop sensor camera in the future for macro and telephotos, 30 megapixels in aps-c would be nice.

It's been entirely possible to make APSC sensors that far exceed 30MP for a long time. If you scaled up a 20MP micro four thirds sensor to the physical size of APSC ( keeping pixel pitch the same ) then it's not difficult. Do people want it and is it a compromise regards low light shooting? Signal processing improves every year but I'm not sure we can squeeze much more out of current technology, I could be wrong. A bump to 34MP would usher in potential 8K recording so I suspect that will be the next resolution number the likes of Sony will release.

I use a Nikon D3300 and I'm intending to upgrade to an FF (D610 or D750), but I'm also considering switching to Canon (probably 6D), what would you advise me? do I stay on Nikon or switch for Canon? from what I've seen, Nikon seems to have a better image quality than Canon, but I imagine that quality is achievable in post production

Nikon recently ended sales here in Brazil, so I'm afraid to continue with Nikon, although it is still possible to find lenses easily

P.S .: My goal is to photograph people and events like birthdays and some possible weddings
