DISCLAIMER: While this video is not "paid" or "endorsed" by Universal (they haven't even seen it!), I would like to acknowledge the inherent bias and "value" of being given access to the film early and being able to interview the director. As such, I consider this worthy of declaring "paid promotion" to YouTube. While this is standard industry practice for journalists, it's a rarity for myself and thus I feel it's possible for my excitement to influence my judgement somewhat. While my opinion is totally honest as it always will be, I do want to be transparent about some of the behind-the-scenes details to keep everyone in the loop!

ABOUT THE SHOW:
This show celebrates Ryan's love for film, games, art and entertainment through personal retrospective analysis that aims to explore what made them so good.

"Don't swap bodies with a serial killer." Reminds me of that old joke. 'I stopped and picked up a hitchhiker on my way home today. After a couple of miles, he said, 'thanks for picking me up, but weren't you were afraid I was a serial killer or something?' I told him, "Nah, I mean, what are the odds of two serial killers in one car?'''

*Don't worry, a "normal" video is coming on Monday! ... But make sure to let me know what to cover next!*
Thank you for humouring this little experiment in between main releases!

So that's what the face of HOYEVER looks like. I'm cool with that.

My therapist: Sexy ryan doesnt exist, he cant hurt you, show you any unfathomable horror nor seduce you
Me: sighs on relief
Suddenly, a whisper at my ear: HOYEVER...
Me: turns around

Oh wow, hearing that there was a time when you wanted to give up on the channel broke my heart, Ryan, your uploads are some of the most uniquely covered & in-depth I've ever seen and they've *really* helped me in learning to build upon my own. Hoyever (lol), I completely understand why you felt that way as the pandemic will do that to you while also being glad that you chose to persevere. 🖤👍

Happy Death Day is absolutely a comfort horror for me. I love comedy mixed with my horror a lot. And there's so much out there that ends terribly (for the characters, not necessarily a terrible ending) that I love getting to pop on a movie that makes me smile and cry and feel good while still delivering some fun kills :D

It's nice to see Vince Vaughn experimenting with unique roles while still being funny.

I'm confused... Ryan knows he is, in fact, cute as hell right? It feels like one of those things where someone jokes about something so often you can't tell if they're actually joking or not. I don't know lol. Ryan, if you're reading this, please feel free to put your face onscreen as long as you like! I think we'd all be into that. Just saying.

I don’t mind content like this! Scripted but still organic. It has a more conversational tone as if I’m being spoken with and not “at”. Great video as always, Ryan.

I super dug this episode. I'm one of the people who love the story of horror but feel like they can't watch it. "Horror comfort food" is some of the only stuff I've been able to get myself to watch on my own. The babysitter series is definitely the one I've been able to enjoy the most because it's so unapologetic, funny and nerdy.

Ah yes, caffeine and spite, the best fuel there is! But for real - dude, I love your videos a lot and this one is no exception. Thanks for your hard work.

I loved this movie so much because as a gay person, I think this is the first (?) movie I’ve seen where a gay character survives the end of his movie AND we get to see comeuppance to one of his bullies?! Yass queen

Really refreshing hearing Horror talked about through such a wholesome lens. Must check this film out for sure. Consider the experiment a success, man. I feel like even more of your personality comes across with this style of vid while being just as astute and insightful as your more scripted stuff. Would love to see you do more vids like this but whatever you feel most comfortable doing.

The movie I would consider my ultimate comfort flick would be the original HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL. I can put that on in the background any day, and it will bring me joy.

I hear you about feeling burned out. I was feeling the same way, so I took a month off of YouTube and social media for my mental health. It helped me out a lot.
