I hope this person takes this feedback as honest and direct and not offensive. The things Chris said are as direct and true as they can be.
I'll just provide my 2 cents and experience:
I felt much the same as the emailer does a couple years ago. I felt I had spent time "learning" Rails but could never get up the confidence to apply and share my knowledge so I could figure out what I was missing. That kept me in the same place for too long. If you're uncertain about "being full stack", write out what that means and what skills you'd need to fix it. Then take action when you can to fix those problems and learn.
When I did start applying, I was consistently told "sorry, we can't hire any juniors right now". My response was "Ok, what skills / capabilities do I need to not be considered Junior?"
Sometimes we lock ourselves in and it's our own fault. Really think to yourself, "Did I actually spend 3 years learning Rails or was I just dabbling?" Chris is 100%, you can learn what you need to get a job in a year. Some can do it faster. Importantly, write it all out. Write out the skills you need and knock them out one by one. Nothing feels better.
P.S. - I'm now a full time software engineer after making myself "not junior".

Honesty man idk If you'll see this but thanks so much for this vid. I'm putting my portfolio together now and going to look for a job with RoR. Hopefully I'll get one because I'm affordable (based in Spain). I think a junior also needs to know testing and all the basics but yeah, thanks for all the vids you did

Thank you chris.

I am curruntly in the same position as the questioner. I have completed Ruby on Rails and I built some projects with it. Currently I am working on a side project with RoR stack. I am looking for a job as a RoR developer but most of the Jobs are not junior roles and it is mostly not remote (worldwide as i am in Nigeria).
What can I do to leave the Junior stage and importanly how can I get remote Job as a Nigerian.

The scarcity of junior Ruby on Rails Job for remote(worldwide) make me always think of switching to JavaScript (I know JavaScript with ReactJs already) and NodeJs but i really love working using RoR, what advice can you give?

After watching your video, I am thinking of switching to JavaScript/NodeJs Can you please advice me

Hey, found your channel today and watched several videos and it's really helpful. I'm a veterinary with 2 degrees: vet and literature/linguistics. Also I'm from Brazil. I am shifting to become a developer since I worked on open source projects for fun for years.

My question is how do you apply for so many jobs a day as you said? I'm on linkedin and every job offer I try throws me to it's own website that requires a login and such. Some even have English level tests and that takes time.

So how do you apply for so many in a day as you said?
