I love tigers. I bought a stuffed tiger and named her Kelly after this movie. I guess what gave me the idea is that in the scene where Matt Damon is pulling all the stuffed animals off his daughter he starts listing off the names of the zookeepers and the first few times I saw the movie I thought he was calling the stuffed animals by name.

The thing with Benjamin in this scene is that he’s projecting his feelings regarding his son onto Spar. He’s letting his feelings cloud his judgment.

"-AND DRAGGED YOU OUT HERE!!! I DID IT BECAUSE I WAS DESPERATE!!!"

That's what he feels regarding the fact that he moved his son out there because he was desperate to reconnect with and help him despite the mother's death.

For some reason people think animals shouldn’t bear the same weight of illness and pain that humans do. I wouldn’t want to be put down... pain or not... so why would any animal? It’s arrogant of us. In the wild he would live out his days... in captivity he gets the needle. Get lost.
