What's one of the most rewarding victories you've ever achieved? Did you get there on your first efforts, or did it take multiple failures at first? Today the Trinity Crew learn a thing or THREE about this veeery question. After a few days hiking rural villages, investigating wrecked ships, and recharging in empty secluded bays.. It’s time for the crew to depart from Vathy, Ithaca and continue their epic voyage. Their goal - to push onwards to Agia Effimia, a small coastal town on the eastern Kefalonia. Their passage voyeured by the Gray, the gloomy, and the grim… surely that’s not a bad sign right…?

This video is about a sailing family adventure. Today the crew leave Vathy in Ithaca, and sail to Agia Effimia in Kefalonia. They battle unexcepted strong winds and med-moor for one of the first times. They have to relay many times as their anchor slips. The crew also get some fishing, exploring, and educational ventures in. The video contains tips of med mooring and on anchoring in general.

Docking your boat was difficult but, you did a great job!

Once more, I enjoyed your episode, as always ;)

For a first windy med mooring, that's a great job!

Turning nose into the wind while dropping the anchor can help to keep the vessel in place and when trying to turn to starboard in reverse maybe that bursts of higher revs would help to maneuver it, but I don't know your specific vessel... . ;) anyway, it's way easier said from my chair than done! lololol.

How heavy is your anchor? I recommend for anchoring in stormy conditions to take 1 or 2 sizes up from the recommendation (or even more) as long as the windlass can handle it. How long is your chain?

I'm a little concerned, 2 days out of you 80 days per week, it will still take at least 36 or 37 episodes... If I'm not wrong, the images of this week are still from may or already from June? It's normal to be behind due to editing and the amount of work it represents but would it be possible sometimes to add time of the year context?

Fair Winds and Following Seas to all the crew.

I totally sympathize with your woes about med mooring.. no one is born with this skill... and it only gets better with practice.. and glad the Harbor master was there and is skilled.. I find all the harbor masters in the Ionian are very good. One observation i had was the you prepared to back up to your intended slip from a dead stop.. and the wind pushed you out of alignment.. this is to be expected as there is no water moving over your rudder or keel to keep you in line. for mono hulls you need to make your plan.. and if in a high crosswind... you need to keep moving .... so you spot your location... hope you have a little help on shore.. but no totally necessary.. and start backing up... bring the boat in line with your intended spot... and start laying out your anchor chain.... remember to do it early as your moving... and then pay it out fast as you approach the jetty... and then arrest the motion with the engine... and throw your line to the dock... once on.. push forward on that line with the engine... while the engine is holding your position.. take up the and you have docked... it takes nerve and practice... lots of practice... I used to teach this to people new to doing med mooring over on Maganisi on an old pier that is not used anymore.. gain skill in calm weather and then build skills... the new anchor will help with confidence also. I will try and find a good training video for this.. Im sure you guys are much better at it now.. as you have been all over Greece now. but this skill keeping water flowing over the foils will also help you when docking with lazy lines in many other countries.
and another great Video... i will be in the water in 3 weeks after 9 days in the boat yard. just in time for the heat to break.
Taylor. I wanted to say great job on showing the real issues crusers have. most people would not want to show this... but its good that people are aware that this is a difficult thing.. and its real. its not fake drama... and the boats picking up anchors... ya... cant tell you how many times boats have picked up my anchor... has to be around 20 times by now... in the last 7 years in Greece.

Great job, harbor master was legit too. Loved the quick shot of the rosary as your visual of an anchor, very creative.

Super judgment team. Getting all your chain out is perfect, and really important in strong winds.
He is captain Makis. Not Marcus. ;-)
