Who would have thought that there are benefits to having social anxiety? Well, there are and these benefits are the reasons why it’s so hard to overcome social anxiety disorder.

You might not agree with me right now because you probably believe that there are no benefits to having social anxiety. You probably believe that it only makes your life more miserable.

After all, your social phobia keeps you away from living your life to its fuels.

It keeps you away from doing things that other “normal” people do without any anxiety at all.

It keeps you away from having meaningful relationships and it prevents you from having a girlfriend or a boyfriend.

All and all, social anxiety prevents you to be happy.

How can there be any benefits to having it?

Well, there are.

Social anxiety disorder is a construct of your subconscious mind. It’s a mechanism that is being used to warn you about danger.

Basically, your subconscious mind wants to protect you from getting hurt and unfortunately, it sees social situations as dangerous.

That’s why it fires the fight or flight response that makes you aware of this danger.

So the real benefit to having social anxiety is safety.

It keeps you safe as it prevents you from doing things that might put you in danger.

This is a huge benefit that makes it almost impossible to overcome social anxiety disorder.

So, if you’d like to know what to do, watch this video now.

Also, please try to understand that you cannot overcome social phobia with your willpower.

It’s not strong enough to defeat your subconscious mind and now you already know that your subconscious wants to protect you at all costs.

It doesn’t care if your social life suffers as result of that.

It doesn’t care if you leave a miserable life.

It just wants you to be safe.

So if you’d like to find out what you should do to get your subconscious mind to cooperate with you, read this in depth article I made for you.

Also, I’d like to suggest you to check out this wonderful emotional freedom technique that allows you to lower the level of your anxiety within minutes.

It probably won’t make it disappear completely, however it will make it more bearable.

I don’t know. I feel my body is in complete resistance. I don’t do what I want and need to. I’m stuck literally and it feels like it would take an army to move me. I’m scared because I don’t want the confrontation that this behaviour is going to cause. This makes me feel like a burden, who is also hopeless and lost.

What crap!
preventing you from becoming hurt and embarrassed...
No. It's actually embarrassed and hurt me more times than I can count.
Everything you listed just sounded wrong.
You're basically saying that SAD prevents you from living life and that's what's so great about it!
Yippee, I have no friends and no one to impress, so I can stay at home and melt into nothingness. No one to check up on me and make sure I'm ok, or I'm safe or lonely.
FYI I do have friends. and I'm sure lots of other ppl with SAD have them as well.
What SAD does is prevent you from interacting with the ppl you love in the way that you would like. You hurt them and in turn hurt yourself. It sucks.

Wow. The way you put it- it makes so much sense. And I somehow was overcome with a feeling of peace- knowing that my social anxiety is merely doing its best to keep me safe. Knowing this is definitely the beginning of a new mindset! Thank you for creating this video and sharing your wisdom!

"SAD protects you, because you're not getting emotionally hurt". Bullshit, living with SAD is being emotionally hurt in every fucking situation that involves people.

SAD can have some benefits, like making us more empathetic, gentle and caring, but "protecting us" is definitely NOT one of the benefits, sir.
