One can say that rock's raid failed

The thing about Captain John's treasure that really puts it over the edge for me is how the first time we hear about it is in chapter 233, the chapter that also introduces Kuma and the Gorosei. Buggy is shown to have been looking for it on an island with a skull shaped rock formation.

I think the nika fruit is extremely unlikely. There’s no way that gorosei would just give that away, not after 800 years of failed attempts to even obtain it.

I love the idea of it being Captain John's treasure and making it relevant to the plot. I always found it odd how Buggy had (seemingly) given up on finding the treasure after the two year time skip.

Almost nobody remembers that Roger landed on Lodestar Island precisely one year before God Valley Incident. That's definitely a factor. He learned something from there that put the fire under his seat.

What if Roger finding shanks was him thinking it was the treasure he was looking for?

The Crown Jewel of Hachinosu was the friends we made along the way.

I feel like the WG could also come away with it. Did we ever fully learn what was the national treasure at mariejoie? The one that doflamingo saw and used to blackmail the celestial dragons? It makes sense if this was the pirate treasure. If doflamingo told the world about it, pirates would be crazy enough to raid mariejoie for it, starting an all out war. That doesn't explain what it is, but it's another option.

morj says that the gorosei would never allow the opop fruit to be a price for such an event, but why would they then do that with the nika fruit, which seems to be even more valuable to imu? if they ever had the nika fruit, they probably would've worked to bring it to imu and lock it up in a safe or something, not flaunt it in some

My first thought was Captain John's treasure because in the scans at least, Captain John reffered to it as "My precious treasure "

The treasure being that of Captain John would fit narratively and would also have more obvious buildup than some other things we have seen so far.
The armband containing the map to the treasure is the only thing Luffy took for himself on Thriller Bark, which was the place we first saw any Rocks members, with Captain John in the rotting flesh no less. It was such a random scene and it paid off in Impel Down where Buggy, a former Roger pirate, immediately recognized it as the map leading to the infamous treasure. The only way he would be able to recognize it is either if he was told by a fellow Roger member or if it was common knowledge and I highly doubt the latter.
Luffy taking the armband of all things was a deliberate story thread that, so far, seems to have concluded with an open end as we got no further info after the Summit War. Since it's a legendary treasure we would likely have heard of it having been found by now and one of the earlier theories of how Cross Guild came to be was that Buggy actually found the treasure.

The chances of it being some kind of artifact or device are rather low imo. Buggy is notoriously greedy but very unambitious. I don't think that he would be keen on finding it and instantly becoming a huge target for most pirates on the sea. He likely knows, or at least believes, that it is a huge amount of riches which is perfectly in line with his greed. It feels like Roger and Rocks only competed for it because their pride was on the line and I wouldn't be surprised if the treasure was some pseudo-official symbol of authority.

It would also be perfectly fitting if the treasure the Strawhats got on Thriller Bark was Captain John's, or what was left of it, as Moria had Captain John as a zombie. It would make perfect sense for Moria to somehow have found the treasure along with John's corpse. It would be the exact kind of tragically hilarious circumstances that make Buggy such a funny character.
Or maybe he only wanted the map because he knew that it was insanely valuable, just for certain others, not him, if it ACTUALLY was something that would make him a target.

It seemed like not many people knew about Nika. It would really break the story if every Tom Dick and Harry knew that the gomu gomu was actually the nika fruit.

Morjs fixation on the EGG is really funny.

Come on, man. It makes zero sense for it to be the Nika Fruit. To almost everyone in the world, the Gomu Gomu no Mi is just an ordinary fruit. How would Garp or Kong know of its importance? Better yet, how would Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom not make any reference to Luffy's fruit being special in the present day if it was the prized possession of Xebec?

This whole thing is based off Morj's idea that Rocks stole the treasure from Roger, when I think it's more likely that Rogers line is probably just about God Valley being the first bit of excitement he's felt since discovering Lodestar a year ago, where he was disappointed by realising it's not truly the final island.

6:15 What if That Devil fruit is none other than Boa's Mero Mero no mi as Teach was looking for it 🤔 (Maybe i have missed some of the details).

It would be hilarious if captain johns treasure was the bara-bara-fruit
Buggy always looking for a treasure he already has, captain john ironicly dieing because his crew cut him up and the possibility of the fruit actually beeing more important than it seemed

I agree that Captain John's treasure makes the most sense and I didn't even think about it so this was an awesome vid

I like the idea that it could be the egg. Having seen that idea, i went straight to Google in search for Bees in mythology (since the Island is called Beehive) And sure enough i found something that could lead to an even more interesting idea. What if it's really the egg and the egg turns out to be Uranus? And what if Uranus turns out to be a giant Bee instead of a big bird like many think?

This was on the Wikipedia page about bees in mythology:
"In Egyptian mythology, bees grew from the tears of the sun god Ra when they landed on the desert sand."
With that there would be a connection to Luffy/Nika potentially. I also saw something in Indian mythology that said "Bees were believed to be the sacred insect that bridged the natural world to the underworld.."
Maybe i'm on to something but maybe not. Either way, it's some food for thought 🤔🤔🤔

Edit: Some extra info, on the Wiki article about it there's also a depiction of said mythological Bees, under the wings you see symbols that resemble either the sun or flowers (Sunflower?). Maybe it symbolizes pollination that bees are known for, or maybe there's more to it, given the connection to Ra.

It'd be really cool if Rocks was the one who told Roger what the D initial meant
