Far-right conservatives block GOP member Kevin McCarthy from speaker role, entering multiple rounds of votes on the House floor.

The House of Representatives made history Thursday, moving to, and then surpassing, an 11th ballot after more stalemated efforts to elect a speaker of the House – the most ballots in this normally pro forma election since before the Civil War.

Then the House adjourned until Friday, hoping to buy more time for negotiations as GOP lawmakers expressed muted optimism that a deal that could install GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy was getting closer.

Election deniers? It's in the constitution that we have the right to check every single vote from every single election. We've never hade a problem before with checking prior to 2020. Why is that?
