Good video Brian I use Eset Smart Security and find it very good at picking stuff up and I occasionally use the other Windows scans you have mentioned (I just leave them running in the background ) to save waiting for a full run and have had no problems at all. But it is a good video for those who are just starting out and for those unaware of such programs you can use eh??👍

Microsoft throws alot to the user for free to help with combating malware an such. Defender, safety scanner, MSRT, sys internals, autoruns, process explorer to name a few! Yet people complain how it's not good enough! The lack of appreciation just baffles me!

Timely video. My sister gets her PC infected at least twice a year, and using Microsoft Safety Scanner helped this time. I knew about the Malicious Software Removal Tool, but not about MSS. Cool. The online ESET Scanner is nice to know about too. Fortunately, so far, I haven't had to use the Kaspersky Disc on her PC...Sometimes I feel like the best course of action for my sister would be to buy her a MAC....LOL...

Yeah idk about Microsoft's removal tool (since if Windows is infected, it's likely by something that its own scanner won't be able to detect). A majority of what you've listed are great options and are commonly used by technicians including myself.

this tool has been around since Windows 7, if I'm not mistaken. it has already been installed in the system, including.

I tried the Safety Scanner but found it a bit odd because I first did a 'quick scan', before it finished I noticed it said 'Files infected: 8'. When it finished it said 'The scan completed successfully and no viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software were detected'. So I did another scan but this time it first said 'Files infected: 12' then when it finished it again said nothing was detected. It's almost like it's detecting something, removing it then putting it back, Very strange. I don't think I'll bother with it thanks.

Downloaded the Safety Scanner, 1 hour/840, 000 files and still only 40% done! But it found 1 “Infected” file….I’ll see. I trust my Norton over Microsoft.
Update: 1 hour 45 minutes/1.4 million files, still 1 sketchy file(false positive?).

The MSRT will also find bootleg versions of Windows, which seems to be it's real purpose.
