The Tudor period was known for it's brutality and horror, and it was during this time where Kings and Queens such as Henry VIII and Mary I (Bloody Mary) executed thousands of people. They even turned on some of their closest, but what is not as well known is that many of the most important men and women had their coffins opened in the centuries after their deaths.

It’s a shame that Henry VIII never met his deserved fate on the scaffold.

Bishop Fisher was executed 2 weeks before Thomas Moore, not after him.

Loyalty, integrity, truth and dedicated service seemed to pale in comparison during the Monarchies in defference to your religious beliefs, court intrigues and jealousies..not to mention greed and power seeking that seemed to be what counted.I love this channel and have been here a long time ( under the other title..) and I love these longer and intensely detailed videos! Always great!

2 things.

Queen Elizabeth also burned people at the stake.

Thomas Moore being branded as a horrible person is ridiculous.

I agree with Anne Boleyn.... when news of More's death reached her she picked up a picture of More and threw it out the window shouting, "Bye!!!!" Because of how he treated protestants and hounded Tyndale who wanted to give us an english bible I side with Anne!!!

Being Henry's friend was a risky business.

Obese King Henry VIII, in his literal bloodlust for a son, never had one ascend to the Throne, nor any decendents at all. Karma is fabulous at times.

Henry the 8th was a brutal psychopath who had no empathy, shame or guilt until he was on his deathbed fearing hell. Life seemed like it was so cheap, at a time when there was a 50% death rate amongst children five years old and younger.
What a horrible time to have lived.

Very repetitive yet informative. Are these separate videos all put into one.

How is it that nobody killed or murdered this king?

Henry VI, Edward II both pious and kind men murdered aparently for not being evil enough.

But John II, Henry VIII and Edward IV all fat and corrupt lived long enough for their lifestyles to do them in.

How is it that Henry could even look at himself in the mirror after so many unjust and evil deeds?

Wasn't Thomas More also a "heretic" burner?

The two wives on Henry VIII did not " lose" their heads, they were decapitated on Henry's wishes (even though Catherine Howard may not have reached the age of eighteen at the time of her execution). They were only two of up to, according to some sources, one hundred thousand people killed by Henry.

Comment #2:😊..I find it truly not very smart of Jane Boleyn...not to have any forethought at all as to the consequences of her involvement.Especially after seeing and living through the situation with Anne and her brother- true or not.One would think that this kind of real betrayal of Henry had to be discovered and punished eventually...Not very smart of her I think...my mind is perplexed as to just how she thought it would not be found out, and with her being so intimate in service to Katherine that she could not have been involved. It was a realistic foregone conclusion that should have been obvious to her.

Oddly, henry 8th beloved son died on July 6 some years later, same day July 6 as Thomas Moore. I can't help but see that as a punishment from God.

Love your vids; HATE your misuse of the word “but.”

Thomas More was a religious fanatic who tortured those who did not conform to his religious views and obedience to the Pope. He was his own worse enemy.
