I can foresee that Chinese cars will be a "National Security Concern" whenever they are successful, like TikTok.

Whether it is subway/bridge/jet engine/car manufacturing / street cleanness/ space station etc, China “ can do” attitude impress me. China always want to improve itself.

They always set the goal and take solid action while other countries think only US can do it. I felt China May do well in chips and aircraft manufacturing in the future.

I have a BYD Atto3. It's an extremely good car, one of the best I have owned and those include GM, Ford, Mercedes, Suzuki, Honda, Subaru, VW, Citroen, Toyota, BMC and probably a few others I have forgotten.

China has already dominanted the EV battery sector

China will most likely make it more competitive and prices will become more affordable. That is an issue here in the western charge way too much for EVs in Europe, The USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

about more than 5 years ago, there were discussion in China top leaders to ban ICE cars in China and let EV replace them since the EV tech were maturing. The foreign automotive including the germans lobbying the Chinese gov, arguing that they were not ready, so the Chinese gov acquiesced. Today, they are still not ready, and the Chinese gov couldn't wait for them anymore.

I have no doubt that within a decade or two, Chinese auto makers will catchup and surpass all other car makers in every aspect of car manufacturing. They are similar to Japan in the 1980s, except their manufacturing is on a different level. China is truly an unstoppable force. All of this will be great for us consumers. We will all be able to have top products in our lives, without having to pay top prices.

6:47 This is not quite correct. I work in this area. China, for example, has absolute dominance over the cobalt supply chain. Chinese companies are basically running the Democratic Republic of Congo’s copper belt (where the vast majority of cobalt originates), and they also own most cobalt refineries. For another key component of batteries - lithium - China is also in the Top 3 of producing countries (if you count the lithium triangle in Chile/Argentina/Bolivia as one). Australia being the other one in the Top 3. There are massive concerns around the environment and indigenous rights around the South American lithium production. So you can’t easily get around China here as well. He already talked about Chinas dominance for gold. AND - as he rightfully pointed out - China owns most of the refineries for all of these minerals. So - in a nutshell - the western world has been sleeping in this area for decades, and once again China was smart to push ahead! Our politicians think too short-term.

Two years ago, the shareholders of many automakers in the West also looked down on China like some people in the comment section, and also looked down on Chinese-made cars, but this year, senior officials of these auto companies went to the booths of Chinese automakers to observe them.

Germany with current leaders like Baerbock is completely hopeless.

In recent years, my excitement on cars have switched from Continentals to Chinese makes because no other country comes out EVS, new makes and models as many and fast as Chinese. And their design and quality looks and feel great too.

I was in the BMW Headquarters Showroom in Munich a Year ago and I was stunned how miles away from Electrics they were, was a ICE kingdom literally, with only a small corner for electric models. Shame on them and the rest of the German auto-industry that by only their fault let themselves fall so behind.

Glad to see there are strong competitions from China in the EV market, hopefully that can help make the EV price more reasonable soon
