Shocking how good the quality, performance and styling is totally justifying $164k MSRP. None of that commodified aftertaste of most SUV's. This feels special and thanks for making the impression come through.

Great review as always and I agree, others are played out or just “safe” in there styling. Most of the haters can’t afford it!

You nailed this review! I totally agree that BMW wants to stand out from the crowd. They are taking huge risks and personal I think it’s paying off. I’ve seen a lot of the grilles every where, when people actually thought that it would be a flop.

BMW nailed this. This reminds me of the first time BMW launched the E53 X5.

I agree with your assessment of the unique look. Like most people, seeing pictures and videos (and subsequent commentary) had me writing this thing off as a gaudy monstrosity - after seeing it in person, the look has grown on me. Sure, depending on the color combo it can be... out there. BUT, it definitely has presence. Give it a year or two and "oh, the horror, my eyes, my eyes!" sentiment will move on to another vehicle coming onto the market.

Also, your remark about the Urus is spot on. Yes, living in a metropolitan area or affluent suburb affects what you see, but when I see a Urus these days I don't even blink, it's like "oh, cool, another one."

A bar of zest soap on steroids. The color combo is what’s killing this

This think makes the Cullinan look good.

My opinion is this shouldn't have been the first BMW M brand exclusive vehicle (meaning M3 = 3 series) since the original BMW M1. In fact, I believe BMW is killing the M brand by diluting it with all the M performance models where they slap M badges everywhere for the sake of marketing (to be fair MB is doing the same with AMG). Even the new '24 X1 and X2 M performance models are getting quad tail pipes which, at one time was exclusive to M vehicles.
Last, I have been buying BMWs since 1994 (current '21 M5C) and not a fan with BMW's new design direction including the new '24 5 Series. I am going to hold on to my M5 for a year or 2 before buying next next car. It will be a shame after 30 years of buying BMWs that I may switch to another brand.
