DC offset is an offsetting of a signal from zero. On the waveform it would mean that the waveform in default view appears not to be centered on the 0.0 horizontal line. The cause is almost always a fixed voltage offset somewhere in the audio chain before the analog signal is converted to digital values. For example, the voltage may be directly caused by a faulty soundcard, or may come from some other device that is attached to the card. Any offset is normally so small as to not be noticeable, but with defective or poor quality hardware it may become large enough to be a problem.

Hey Joe. Thanks a ton for doing this series. I find it super helpful, being able to work simultaneously on the same tracks is tremendously helpful. Last week was literally my first ever full mix that I've done. Needless to say I'm in need of a series like this. Do you, or anyone here I guess, ever review mixes like mine and provide feedback? Ive been trying to find people to do this for me so I can learn and improve. Long, fun, road ahead. Thanks again!

Hey Joe! Phase invert on the room mics made a huge difference. Snare was clearer with polarity changed, kick was more beefy. Time to get new monitors? : )

Recommandation for those that move drum tracks (in time) to make them in phase:

Do it only for multimicked drums, like when you have Sub-Kick and Kick, Snare Top and Snare Bottom, etc. Because the phase relatioship between the different drums is key for a the drumkit sound (as that's how we hear it in real life), if you put everything in phase (time) it will sound completely weird to our ears.

Did not know Mixtool could do that. And I was almost ready to buy a phase inverter plugin from someone else. This works really well with layered samples also. But like The Man says, use it sparingly.

Mowing the grass! One of life's necessary evils - just like Mix prep :-) I have found the key to quicker mixing (other than practice) is being well organised. Who did I learn it from? You and Graham :-)

Hey Joe, is there an alternate download link for the tracks? After I enter my email, the form keeps getting stuck at "50% complete".
