My parents were smart enough to live in LA when I was born and in 1961(at age 8) I began listening to the Dodgers on the radio and hearing Vin Scully tell me what was going on at the ballgame. I've never stopped listening to Vinny since. For the past 55 years between April and October every year, Vinny has been my friend and companion. Most of what I know about baseball and love about baseball is because of Vinny. The love of the game I passed on to my two sons is directly connected to Vinny. There have been many soundtracks to my life; the Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, George Gershwin, Frank Sinatra, and Linda Ronstatdt. But none have been as constant and comforting as Vin. Thank you, Vin for taking a little boy on your magic carpet ride to baseball heaven and letting him become a grown man along the way. Baseball has no clock. The game never ends as long as you keep getting hits. It's how I look at life. As long as I keep swinging and keep getting hits, this game, this life ain't over. Thanks, Vin. Thanks, so much.

I'm not even a baseball fan, but anytime this man told a story, I had to stop and listen. He is one of the greatest voices in all of sports. Much respect

I love the Yankees. Lived in L.A. for a few yrs. But, Vin Scully is total CLASS. Why did I only go to 1Dodger game? It was a much better experience to watch it on t v. And listen to Vin Scully.

God bless you Vin I have said this before in other posts I hope there is a Field of Dreams waiting for you in heaven and they are looking for the best broadcaster there ever was the booth will be waiting for you to call the game. The fans all have their radios tuned in to hear you call the game and wait till you see the rollcall of players you will have when you call the game you will have so many memories flooding you and the stories you're going to tell during the game. You were a joy to listen to all these years though I am not a Dodger fan I saw and heard enough of you on national tv and radio RIP Vin your game is about to start

"The greatest game we have in this world" - so true. And we had the honour of Vin painting its pictures of it for 67 years. This is truly the end of an era and we'll never see the likes of him again. Thank you Vin for making being a Dodgers fan a truly magical experience.

I can remember the first time I heard Vin Scully's voice it was 3/31/98 and it was on TV but not in the way you might think it was in a video game didn't think much of it other than nice voice (his video game commentary was very basic until his last appearance in 05 it became a little more in-depth) and I said to myself I got to hear this guy more so I ordered the MLB extra innings package and from the first live broadcast I heard I was hooked and every year since I've ordered either MLB.tv or MLB extra innings his descriptive ability is one-of-a-kind (as a legally blind man I felt like I was in the seats at dodger Stadium) i've lost count of how many nights in the last 10 years or so I could put a Dodgers game on my computer turn the monitor off and still feel like I was watching every second of it here in Massachusetts he has made for a lot of late nights for me but I wouldn't have it any other way it is very sad that he's retiring but I wish him nothing but the best
