I guess I'm old school be it in a canoe, on a mountain range, 4hr trip or month long adventure. I always take a map and compass, NO BATTERIES required

Thanks for this video it is nice see a non ultra lightweight type of gear suggestions (not that ultra lightweight is necessarily bad).

I have 1 pair of the darntough sock and like them at lot I have found that i really like alpaca wool socks i have them from both hollow and willowace so far they have been great.

for rain gear in stuck between the US GI poncho and the frogg toggs rain suit for now.

i will have to put a sun hoodie on my list of stuff to get.

Im still undecided on foot wear right now i have a good pair of merrel shoes that I got 2nd hand that work well but I also like boots for more ankle protection.


my gear is a wide mix of stuff from mil surplus to homemade to commercial off the shelf. My main tent is a Northface VE24 that was given to me from my late father that he bought while in the Navy in Roda Spain!
