The Secret History of the Internet

You’ve been told the internet was built to connect the world.
But that was never the full story.

Before Google, before social media, and long before smartphones… the internet began as a military weapon. Born from a Cold War program called ARPANET, it was designed to withstand nuclear war and ensure battlefield command and control.

But today, that same infrastructure powers AI, mass surveillance, and global digital control.

In this video, we uncover the secret history of the internet—what it was really built for, how it evolved, and why the same tools that promised connection now track, monitor, and influence billions of lives.

🔍 What You’ll Learn:
The Cold War origins of the internet (ARPANET)

Why it was designed to survive nuclear attacks—not protect privacy

How military infrastructure became the foundation of AI and surveillance

Predictions from the 1960s about censorship and control—now coming true

⚠️ It was never about freedom. It was always about control.

I was a teen in the '70s, started using the Internet in the late '80s in the military. I see it as a net positive, but still miss simpler times when you had to go to a brick and mortar shop or a paper catalog to make a purchase, when you had to have face to face or voice to voice conversations instead of simple texts or tweets, and I'm not excited about social media for kids only because a lot of parents aren't smart enough or engaged enough to monitor what their children are doing.

During the Cold War a defector from Soviet Georgia said that there existed a primitive internet linking the libraries of those science towns in Siberia ten years before the internet really got going in the West. He also said that if the Cold War had ever gone hot the West would have been unpleasantly surprised at how advanced the state of science in the Soviet Union had been.

How can people be so smart, so dedicated. I can't even write a essay and actually confidently read it out in public.

I studied computer networking in 1998, when the world wide web was in it's infancy. I told people that it was going to be as big as Gutenberg's invention of movable type. What I didn't foresee was how commercialized it would become in very short order.

Hey man
So I have people currently spying on my phone, every key stroke, watching exactly what’s on my screen, able to see everything I’ve done on my phones etc at all times. I believe they may be using a flipper zero as per an ex hacker thief I talked to. Do you know of any way to shut it down?

70s/80s best years of my life. Aside of easier possibilities of rapidly increasing your economical status, back then, relationships were genuine and respected. Morals kept high and parenting meant something. Today's society
Other then all mentioned, that we have lost, THANKS INTERNET

I am following with interest … the net was definitely a bless, when i was a teen in the 70s, if you want to know about something, like synonyms of a word in another language, you have to get out of the house, take a transportation to the literary, some times 50 miles or more, spend a day or more going through you know what then go home with your notes, and if you are a scientist you may have to do this way more extensively, yes it was s bless for progress, business, problem solving, interaction, every thing. The came the video conferencing and talking and seeing the other person, only 007 was capable of doing this when he talk with M, everybody, every business did not need Fax, or Telex before that or the huge bulky car phone …. Yes it was a bless, thank you to all those pioneering men and Al Gore
Now we need to know what is this AI is bringing and is it True AI or is it just faster calculations in faster CPUs now GPUs … what about security, , is it gone ⁉️⁉️, and it seems that no one give a damn about privacy either !!?? Thank you

This boomer has forgotten...how he looked things up in a library BEFORE the internet. I'd say the internet has been a net (har-dee-har-har...) positive for me.
