Doing the bucket list hike to Tugela Falls and hiking the Drakensberg Mountains with A STRANGER! We only met once, and decided to send a 5 day roadtrip together so that we could witness the second highest waterfall in the world, Tugela falls, in Drakensberg Amphitheatre. This travel vlog shares our 5 day roadtrip itinerary and everything you will need to know when planning your visit to hike and camp Tugela Falls so you can go on this adventure as well! OUR ITINERARY:
DAY 1: START + DRIVE TO MOUNTAINS
- Arrive to Johannesburg Airport (we started at Kruger since I was in the Kruger before that)
- Drive to the Drakensberg Mountains

DAY 2: HIKING DAY
- Mnweni Pass 20km hike (12 miles) OR Tsekesteke pass, cathedral peak reserve
- Another night at Amphitheater Backpackers Lodge

DAY 3: HIKE DAY + DRIVE
- Head to Royal Natal National Park- entrance fee is 90 ZAR
- Gudu Falls Waterfall Hike (4.5 miles+ pretty views of a waterfall from above)

DAY 4: HIKE TO TUGELA FALLS
- Transfer is 137.50 ZAR each way + overnight camping fee is 275 ZAR

DAY 5: HEAD BACK TO JOHANNESBERG
- Get down from the hike and take the transfer back to the lodge
- Fly out from Johannesburg or continue your journey!
