// My Story

I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.

I've used different techniques such as trying to explain what I learned in order to know what I still don't know, I mean, if I don't remember something while explaining, I know I need to come back to that topic. I've also used apps to make flashcards, like you suggested at the end. Good video Tiff

I am doing exactly what she said from 08:00 to 10:00, nice to have it validated. Apart from the tech content have to say, she is indeed breathtaking

Yes trying to cram it all in such a short time frame is not advisable, side note your nail colors always look awesome.

I use what I call "peeking" when I learn a new concept. So, I learn it and then open a blank file and try to write it from scratch and do as much as I can do. Then, when I get stuck, I take a quick peek at the concept code that I am learning (not scrutinize but just long enough to get me unstuck and come a bit further with the code). I continue this process until I finish the exercise. Then I delete the code I have just written, take a quick break and start the process again. Rinse and repeat till you can write the new concept without peeking at all. 😄

Can you share an example of how you take notes while learning a new technical topic? (Digital or paper)

Start with what you already know and add to that. Einstein did this. Also simplify and break info down to a flowchart like .. fast

Top down learning. Think of an idea that you want to invent. Then figure out how to do that, technically. Great motivator to fill in the gap faster.
