ENLIST IN THE WAR OF THE LANCE
March to war against the Dragon Armies in this adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.
Takhisis the Dragon Queen has returned to the world of Krynn. Across the land, her armies of fanatical draconians wage a brutal war of conquest. As the Dragon Armies march on the unprepared nation of Solamnia, only the defenders of the city of Kalaman stand in their way. But the Dragon Armies want more than just to crush their foes. An ancient evil in the Dragon Queen’s service seeks a magical weapon that could dominate Krynn for all time.

Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen is a tale of conflict and defiance set during the legendary War of the Lance. Create characters from Krynn, the world of the Dragonlance setting, then march them to the front lines of battle against the terrifying Dragon Armies.

Optionally, use the Dragonlance: Warriors of Krynn board game to bring this adventure’s massive battles to your Dungeons & Dragons game.

World at War: Introduces war as a genre of play to fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons.
Dragonlance: Introduces the Dragonlance setting with a focus on the War of the Lance and an overview of what players and DMs need to run adventures during this world spanning conflict.
Heroes of War: Provides character creation rules highlighting core elements of the Dragonlance setting, including the kender race and new backgrounds for the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery magic-users. Also introduces the Lunar Sorcery sorcerer subclass with new spells that bind your character to Krynn's three mystical moons and imbues you with lunar magic.
Villains: Pits heroes against the infamous death knight Lord Soth and his army of draconians.

Dragonlance is what brought me to D&D. I own over 50 of the books. My favorite book series ever.

Dragonlance has a very rich and unique story. I hope they do it justice.

Definitely not preordering this. Learned my lesson with Spelljammer. Going to wait and see how it is on release.

I got into DragonLance in the mid 80s when I was 10 yrs old, and i’ve never stopped loving it. I’ve read my 200+ books multiple times!

Currently playing in the adventure as an Aurak Draconian Sorcerer. I was the only one in the group who was aware of the Dragonlance setting before (I hid it so well what with my small collection of books, Raistlin Majere as my discord icon, and my Goldmoon body pillow) thus the DM was comfy not having to do an introduction bit with me like the others. Other than that, we have only really done two sessions so far, so let's see how the world handles him.

This might be controversial, but original Dragonlance actually was the end of the Old School D&D that the OSR was based on. It enshrined melodramatic characterization, a narrative plot, in-your-face morality plays, and more that made the game completely different from, say, Keep on the Borderlands.

I’m one of the longtime fans of Dragonlance — read the Chronicles in the mid-‘80s, and it’s my favorite old school D&D setting. I’m VERY excited for this book to come out. I hope it does the series justice — we’ve been waiting a long time for 5e Dragonlance!!

The lore is the meat and potatoes of Dragonlance.

I am cautiously optimistic for this. I feel as though a lot of the people behind this have simply read an article about the history of dragonlance as opposed to reading the books and loving them.

Them: "It is D&D's setting for war"
Birthright: Uh what?

"Massive campiagn" - well, only levels 1-10 (again 😞 ), fingers crossed that means we're getting follow on adventures for the higher level parts of the war, but I'm not hopeful.

(Lists off story elements that were covered in about a paragraph of DL1 back in the day) - "Okay, now we don't want to overwhelm everyone with all this lore..."

Dude, we could handle it fine as a cold open to the module back when I was 14, I'm pretty sure folks today won't be overwhelmed. I'm now worried that there's going to be a hundred pages of extraneous fluff padding out the book because WOTC doesn't trust people today to be able to say "the gods withdrew from the world, got it." I got news for you folks, the current generation are smarter and more genre aware than we were way back when, they'll handle it fine.

Don't forget to bring the Eloquence Bard, Oath of the Vengeance Paladin, Twilight Cleric, Divination Wizard, and Moon Druid.

This will be my first D&D experience/purchase ever. I am here because of Dragonlance and the wonderful setting created by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

I read Dragonlance in the 80s, the first two Trilogies and I have the first 12 adventures. How will they reconcile Dragonborn or Tieflings to this setting. Or even Half Orcs, when there are no orcs on Krynn.

Krynn: We call it "The Catalysme"
Toril (Sword Coast): We call it, "a Tuesday"

Some of us never left Dragonlance. Because some of us know that Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition did not need a successor.

Descent into Avernus was a massive campaign that embroiled the characters in the largest conflict in dnd history - The Blood War.
The adventure's DM advice suggests it's suicidal to fight devils and demons in the blood war, so try to guide characters away from trying ... perhaps Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen provides similar opportunities.

When are they gonna make a module for tier 3 and 4 play?
