@FrostyTheBeerMan It's not that bad... but there's a lot lacking to aid the shot. I didn't really get a lot of time to practice with it but I heard from a friend of mine who works extensively with Steadicam products that there's a lot of experimentation going on in putting a HD-DSLR on stabilizer and they still haven't found the perfect formula.

hey John, thanks for the review. So, if I am understanding you correctly, you found that the 5D didn't have the greatest footage on the Merlin because of the lack of stabilization in the actual camera ? I never thought about this, and it's a good point you brought up, as every turns IS off, if their lens has it, and also shoots in manual, which adds to the problem I suspect.

Hey, great review! Thanks a lot! Any chance you know a good set up for a 550d with kit lens or 550 with the canon 24-70? Because the camera body is so light and the 24-70 is so heavy, i find it always falls forward. Very Front heavy. That makes me use the kits lens more often but the 24-70 has a 2.8 f/2.8 so id rather use that. Still love to use the kit lens but even that needs fine tuning so i was wondering if you know a good set up for either? Thanks

oh... interesting... so maybe we will see a new Merlin, specifically for DSLRs in the new future.... I could see this happening, now that you mention that. Interesting !, this will create a whole new product, and with the popularity of DSLR video, they are onto a good thing. Thanks for the info John !
