Everyone commenting on how Netflix is turning everything into a competition show but if I learned anything from the first season... Glass blowing is HARD

"I want to be number one or be eliminated", okay, well that is how competition shows work

It's clear to me that they need to start doing blind judging (evaluating the pieces without knowing who did what)

Y’all just commenting that Netflix is making everything into a competition show, but y’all haven’t seen the first season! It’s the best!

This show would be good if the judges weren't sucking up to Chris all the time.

Chris is a fantastic glass blower. His versatile technicality due to his vast experience is unmatched during this competition. However, this competition is not just about judging contestants by their technique. It also looks at how contestants stick to the brief, concept/motivation behind the design, final design itself and how delicate/refined the piece is. Looking at his designs, he shouldn't have gone as far as he had gone in this competition.
It is like having Marco Pierre White with a bunch of newbies, Gordon Ramseys and Jamie Olivers in a cooking competition and keeping Marco in the competition purely because of his versatile technicality while cooking despite how he misses the brief of the day, how ordinary the taste of the dish is and imperfections in his plating. 🤷‍♀️

I liked this season despite Chris Taylor, *SPOILER* I actually believe that the only reason they didn't eliminate him was because they wanted people to keep watching the show just to see how Chris get kicked out, at least for me that was the best moment in the whole season because he was really annoying, not to mention every time he was about to lose he used tha "dead mom and dad" card.

Netflix is making everything into a reality competition show

Chris made pencils when they clearly asked them to make carton characters and he still won, they asked them to make perfume bottle and he sucked and no one lost that round.

First season was perfect and second season had some hard hitters in terms of the final creations but the sophistication and relative obscurity makes me wonder if the lack of exposure has allowed like some kind of glass blowing clandestine powerful conglomerate to form and control outcomes behind the scenes to at least some extent based on the massive levels of favor given to Chris Taylor in the second season. Or more realistically, the suits and ties behind the show had the thickest yellowest ropes puppeteering the results to hopefully increase the shows popularity through drama. Jason and Nao going home instead of Chris was ludi-chris ( was that blown away worthy? ). I liked Chris in the end but he did not, from what the series has established as reasons for going home, deserve to have reached where he reached.

Too bad the show runners sucked up to Chris Taylor and let him be a pretentious asshole. Making this show hard to enjoy, just finished episode 3 where the challenge was to create AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER and he makes colored pencils. And some how that’s a stronger “character”

The hole season 2 its shit.
The sword is made towards Chris Taylor because he is Chris.
Since 4 episode he missed the intention of the challenge.

I still think the artists can get to make more elaborate pieces if they will give them more time to execute their ideas . I can only imagine how hard it is to blow glass just by watching them and the time pressure.

Jesus...there is a LOT of animosity towards Chris in the comments.

Look, don't get the wrong idea, I didn't like the needless egotism either (my motto is definitely "Let your work do the bragging for you"), but it was still fascinating to see him whip out all of these different techniques for making glass; the whole was especially impressive. You can definitely tell that this guy was the teacher of Alexander Rosenberg.

It was still interesting to see how extensive his understanding of glasswork was compared to the others and for him to really display that understanding. True, he didn't always stick to the objective, but they make it very clear the main intent is NOT the only measurement of the work.

Besides, while Chris may have been the biggest offender, it's not like there was a shortage of egotism from the other contestants. It seemed to me the only non-bragging ones were the non-Americans, Elliot and Nao. For those of you who watched to the end, I feel comfortable saying the best person won.

Watched about 6 episodes of this now and I really like it. They took the forged in fire concept and made a good show.

I also have massive respect for Glass Blowers the attention to detail creativity and margins for error are incredible.

I don't usually care much for game/competition shows, but I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's artistic, and almost magical to watch these people create what they do. Manipulating molten glass has this hypnotic, otherworldly feel to it.

Probably the only competition show I would want to watch. Can watch glass blowing and black-smithing for ages.

They should judge without knowing who made the pieces. Now its unfair and ruins the whole show
