I read thru the comments and feel that some of them are made by people who have never owned a Multipla. I have owned a total of 6, the first one was the 1.6 petrol. Nice car, bit short of humph and not brilliant economy but it would get you there. the other 5 have all been diesels. Why I sold any of them is still a mystery (I had to shift a few because I had too many blocking up the place, I tend to collect what I like) Yes, they are a quirky motor, but oh so practical. My everyday car has the rear seats out to make a useful van, that's a van with plenty of windows, wonderful. Fuel economy is ok, I get about 35 to 40 round town and about 50 to 55 on a good run. It does have it's gremlins like most cars: torsion bar rubbers, drop links, rear brake adjusters (on the drum brake models) sticking pads on the disc ones, rear bearings on the swing arms are prone to rust, the spare wheel carrier is a pain, it rusts away if you neglect it. Handbrake housing and cable need fairly regular maintenance, the air con on some of my cars have been poor due to seals breaking down. The engine is nearly bullet proof, remember to change the belt every 60k. Bottom pulley is a 2 part rubber cushion type and not a very good one, they aren't expensive and am not difficult to change, but it's a pain. All in all, I love the car.

Thank you! I'm think about getting one of these to transport my bike inside. It looks a quite clever choice.

interesting review, I'm personally considering buying this as my first car once I'm 18, simply because it's more practical and generally cheaper than a city car, fuel economy may not be as ideal as in a city car, but for driving something quirky and practical, it makes up for it

In case you ever want to buy one of these, get the late production 2009/2010. For one main reason, aside of improvements and euro 4 engines...the plastics in this car are AWFUL. Don't ever expect any plastic in this car to last properly. The bumper fades (and that's minor), but the interior smooth velvet-ish dashboard surface melts, the interior and exterior door handles worn out, the plastic on the dash itself is prone to cracks...the cloth on the seats and dash might be about fine as it ages better but i wouldnt bet on it. The seals on the doors are equally awful, but i guess theyre the cheapest part to replace.
Mechanically wise, be aware that while it is a short car (4 meters only) it is really wide and really heavy on the front (easily 800kg on the front axle alone) so expect wear on tires and mechanical bits, especially if you get the 1.9 JTD diesel, which has a lot of torque but is also heavier. Ideally, if you ever need to replace the clutch get an heavy duty part, the original one is supposedly similar to the part used on Fiat Mareas and Bravos, it's not great especially at full load (car papers grant you up to 1850kg total with the 1.6 gasoline engine...but that's gonna stress the car a lot if you drive at full load quite often).

That's not a private plate - the old style number plates came mostly with 3 numbers but some had just 2 digits

£390. Good Lord. Couldn't get it for less than £2k today, surely?

These little ugly cars are great so practical i use mine as a van, they are now going up in price and becoming rare for a good one you need to pay good money.

One of the or perhaps ugliest cars ever made... the only redeeming feature was the internal space...
