Written Bioshock 2 Tips and Tricks

Bioshock 2 follows a gameplay pattern:

1. Kill Big Daddys and adopt their Little Sister

2. Protect Little Sisters while they Harvest ADAM from corpses

3. Once your Little Sister has done 3 Protector trials you must make the choice to either rescue or harvest her for ADAM – rescuing her will give you less ADAM at that time BUT you will make it up later.

4. After making your choice, you must fight a Big Sister – so be ready.

To be ready for these fights you need to stockpile ammo, EVE, and Med kits.

▶ Tips for Conserving Ammo in Bioshock 2

Tip 1 – use melee to finish off stunned and downed Splicers – Electro Bolt works well for stunning,

Tip 2 – Use the Telekinesis plasmid to damage splicers. Personally I don’t like Telekinesis BUT if do there are plenty of explosive objects to throw at Splicers.

Tip 3 – Equip gene tonics that enable you to find more loot (like the Scavenging tonic) and tonics that give you discounts at vending machines.

Tip 4 – To conserve ammo use the Spear gun – because you can retrieve spears from Splicers after you finish them.

➡ Tip – before entering a new room crouch, this will allow you to sneak up and pick off a few unsuspecting Splicers.
Note - a headshot with the Spear is an instant kill.

➡ Tip – use sentry bots and hypnotized Splicers to distract your enemies and then finish them off with the Spear gun or a melee.

Tip 5 – As soon as possible, buy and upgrade to level 3 the Hypnotize plasmid. It will allow you to slow down and distract Splicers. Level 3 will enable you to hypnotize Brute Splicers and Big Daddy

Tip 6 – buy Cyclone Trap plasmid and get it to level 2. Cyclone Trap 2 will enable you to infuse plasmids like hypnotize to your Cyclone Traps which will enable you to prepare the area for Big Daddy fights, harvesting ADAM, and Big Sister fights.

Tip 7 – Once available, use Drill Specialist – you only get to use melee and your plasmids (Tip: make sure you have drill dash equipped). This build will allow you continue to stockpile ammo while working your way through Bioshock 2.

Tip 8 – Save your specially ammo and most powerful weapons (like the grenade launcher) for Big Daddy and Big Sister Fights

Tip 9 – Save your trap ammo (mini-turrets, spear traps, etc.) for protecting your Little Sister while she’s harvesting.

Tip 10 - As you are following the story path in Bioshock 2, stop and explore any new rooms and areas along the way – you’ll pick up: health, EVE, and Ammo. Also, you’ll find gene tonics and safes.

Tip 11 – Save your Hack Tool’s Auto-Hack darts for safes – some will be nearly impossible even with maxed gene tonics.

➡ Tip - Buy Auto-Hack darts from vending machines if you find them.

Tip 12 - Hack camera’s, sentries, and security bots (make sure to use the Research Camera on them to get maxed research)

Tip 13 - Always hack health stations because they’ll damage any Splicer trying to use them to heal. Also, hack vending machines you’re going to use. if you’re having trouble with hacking – especially later in Bioshock 2 – invest in gene tonics to slow them down. Just like in Bioshock 1, the hacking will steadily become more difficult as you progress.

➡ Tip – I like to press down the A button slightly to be able to react faster

➡ Tip – equipping the camouflage gene tonic will allow you to go invisible when standing still – this will allow you to avoid Sentry bots if you miss a hack.

Bonus Tip – To experience ALL the gameplay variety of Bioshock 2, I would HIGHLY recommend playing through the Protector Trials DLC. The Protector Trials will expose you to using different combinations of weapons, gene tonics, and plasmids.

That locked room near the end of the game was tough to hack. I went through 2 health packs. ITS ONE TINY GREEN SLIVER

The absolute best way to achieve max points on high health enemies (Brute, Big Sister, Big Daddies) is freeze and 2 hacked green bots. Its important to do as little damage as you can with the bots. This means no perks and no blue hacked bots. I got 4000 points on a brute to finish research in paupers drop. All you have to do is start recording once your bots aggro the enemy, then only freeze and keep re freezing each time they thaw. Do not melee, shoot or anything as you are recording them. Only allow the bots to do damage until you level up research and then you can finish them once the recording is over. Just make sure you have 2 extra eve hypos to do this. For smaller enemies, the quickest way I've found is shock or freeze and then melee with the shotgun and then shoot phosphorus shells. If you don't have any then just use normal shells for a quick 400-500.

My current gameplay are gene tonics geared towards eve and health regeneration and dollar saving tonics.

My offensive is freeze 2 and raining down bullets on enemies. Which in my POV is so OP but costly.

I don't know if you still reading posts here but I have an issue. I have no idea how to switch plasmids and how the back-up plasmids (The ones loaded in your inventory) Without that knowledge (And I have YouTubed and googled it with no luck) I find I'm a sitting duck. Also, I'm using a PC, I don't know what keybinding it is to pull up a selection of plasmids so that I on the cuff I can select another choice very quickly. I hope you'll get this.
