Number 2 for me, it's more of a "happy ending" but it's still sad in a way.
Now here's a theory (Don't take this comment seriously, it's just a theory that suddenly occurred to me)
number 1 is when the mother goes to see her daughter for the first time, the girl does not recognize her because her memory was erased. After visiting the girl for a while, we arrived at number 2, where the girl has already accepted her as her mother, but she does not recover her memories, she only accepts her because the woman tries very hard to like her and behaves like her mother. We can attribute the shape change to the fact that the girl feels fear and stress when the woman leaves, since she has problems with being left alone with the scientists, since she has not forgotten that the scientists did experiments with her.
I think it can be better structured and get more lore out of it, but that's where my imagination ends, I'll leave it to you.

2: I have a theory.
The mother had to give her up because she couldn’t take care of her, the science lab took her in and decided to make her a monster, which could also represent not having a mother or a father makes you a monster (it DOSENT) and that’s what happened and she didn’t get to have a mother her entire life and now she has to stay in room for the rest of her years.

1: theory: the mother could not keep her and had to give her to society, they decided to erase her memory thinking that was the only option to make her not sad for the rest of her life, she doesn’t remember her mother, but isn’t maybe not in a room forever anymore.
