BEST TRICK EVER. !!! Saw this, ordered F.A.S.T. and LOVE it. Not only the best ACAAN (I have many), the best trick ever. Simple and brilliant. And when it happens without ever touching the deck, nothing compares! Thank you so much, David, for turning me on to this. I watch your channel daily.

I'm a big fan of Benjamin Earl's version. It does use a few sleights but nothing crazy. The selection processes are the highest level of clean... they literally can't be more clean.

Thank you, David, for your passionate contributions to the magic community. I am deeply invested in the Mnemonica stack and have spent more time reinforcing card associations to numbers than any other aspect of my card magic. In fact, I haven't yet started performing with the stack, except for occasionally demonstrating deck memorization from a "shuffled deck."

In the meantime, I’ve collected a few recommended books, aside from Juan Tamariz's Mnemonica. These include Pit Hartling's In Order to Amaze, Matt Baker's The Buena Vista Shuffle Club, and I’ve just started practicing A.W.A.C.A.A.N from Asi Wind’s Repertoire. Although not specific to the Mnemonica stack, I’m also adding Darwin Ortiz’s Designing Miracles and Strong Magic as guides for creation. I also have Repertoire II on preorder.

With this foundation in mind, your mention of Daniel Dorian Johnson's F.A.S.T. has piqued my interest. My question is: can this be adapted to the tools I already have in the tank? If not, does the method or approach differ enough from what I already have access to in my current library to justify the monetary investment and time to learn it?

I concur. The membership allows for deeper dives into all sorts of magic.
More and sooner. Well worth it.

Your review reminded me to look these 2 up in my magic archives and learn it this time.
They're both great and learning both are fun. Thanks David for waking me up to this.😊

Late comment: Totally agree with you on this, purchased it first day of release. My second choice is Sean Devines take on this where he uses two decks, one for card selection the other exact position of card...cheers.

Hey david, quick question. You have really emphasized the point of these tricks really being ANY card and ANY number, but when I watched the demonstration vid for Fast, he "take your cards value and double it, and then double it again". Do I have to keep this patter when performing, so their card value has a relation to the cards position? Or could I just really say: "Think of a number... and think of a card... whats the number? Count that many cards from the deck."
If you could clarify Id appreciate it, thanks!

David, I completely agree. I love both of these ACAAN effects. Daniel is brilliant. If I had to choose one more, I’d choose Brent Braun’s Position Impossible. Technically, it’s a CAAN. But it will truly feel like any card to the participant.

I love ACAAN and I have performed over 60 variations. For me, this version wouldn't make my top 10, but if you are looking for ease of execution it certainly fits the bill. The problem is the number is actually forced and it's kinda obvious. Asi Wind's ACAAN is the best, but A Card and a Number by Al Baker is still one of my favorite ACAAN's to perform.

The berglasneffect, when performed by the man himself (RIP) or one of the few he taught the actual work to, like Marc Paul.

The real secret and magic is not in the effect itself, but rather in the legend built around it. Method wise it’s actually pretty damn simple, at least the legendary version of it.

Barrie Richardson impromptu acaan is high on the list as well, but nothing will come close to creating the legend or the effect in the minds of magicians like Berglas’

It's funny how if you as a LAYPERSON what the "holy grail" card trick is, they'd probably say "that one where you throw a deck of cards at a window and a signed card appears the other side" or "that one where the deck turns into a block of glass (omni-deck)" or some other IMPOSSIBLE thing; whereas if you ask a magician what the holy grail card trick is, they say something which is not impossible and instead is merely improbable (ACAAN). I mean imagine if whenever you shuffled a deck of cards it randomly turned into a block of glass one out of every 52 times just by itself...

Now I have to get at least one of these or get one and later get the other one. Do you have any suggestion on which one to get first? I’m a little bit unclear on if I need anything else to perform the second effect in the video

I've watched 2 trailers (of FAST and Iceberg). Am I correct the spectator doesn't really get to freely choose a number, but rather uses their card value as a starting point for tbe location they choose? If so, seemed terribly obvious.
