You people who scoop up and deal with our human wreckage are the biggest heroes in the world. Respect.

I worked with the dude that had been a paramedic for 8 years I asked him why he quit. He looked at me and then he hung his head down and said I couldn't stand to see any more dead children.

Two years ago my husband was in a wreck. As he was being transported by ambulance, he went into cardiac arrest. EMTs restarted his heart via CPR. He is still recovering, but his heart is going strong. Thank you, thank you.

Paramedics should be paid MUCH more! Where I live, they make only $17/hour, it's insane.

29 years ago I was in an horrific car crash, with my four small children. I had to be removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and then taken by helicopter to a major trauma center. Thank God the worst thing that happened to any of the kids was a seatbelt bruise. To this day, I remember the name of the first paramedic on scene, the one who started my IV, the RN on the helo, the RN by my head in the ER and his then fiancée, who ended up being my recovery room nurse after several of my surgeries. If front line workers and first responders ever think you aren’t remembered, I promise you that you are. I still pray for Cort, Charlie, Dan, Parnell and Christine all the time. It’s thanks to them that I got to know my grandkids and I will be forever grateful to each of them. ❤

ICU RN 23 yrs- every patient is someone's mother, someone's child, someone's sister, someone's best friend, someone's teacher, etcetera. Be kind to each other

This is why they need more recognition than sports players and celebrities.

When my husband died at home in my arms before the police came they all tried so hard. The police officers, volunteer EMTs and the paramedics all tried so hard but I knew he was gone before they arrived but he had just literally died when the first police officer arrived. I am so grateful for all of them. What a way to start a shift. It was 7 am. God bless all of them.

When my wife got in an accident with both our kids in the car, I got a call from her phone, but to my surprise a paramedic lady was the one on the other side… she immediately explained the situation and calmed me down. I remember driving to the scene, I can’t explain the feelings going through me. When I got to the ambulance, I found my wife bruised up and both my young kids crying, but ok. The sense of relief was unbelievable. I remember the paramedic giving my young daughter a couple of teddy bears to calm her down. She was very professional and in total control of the situation, while at the same time very sweet and caring towards the kids. Thank you for what you do.

About twelve years ago, one of my best friends was going to school to become an EMT. He died in car wreck two week before his graduation. I have so much respect for EMTs.

My son is a paramedic in a big city and has seen the worst. previously he was a medic in Iraq and Afghanistan and he saw the worst of the worst. He has been diagnosed with ptsd and is going back to school for a different profession. these people are heros for what they do, but pray for them to get through each shift.

I was a firefighter for a number of years, and know a lot of Paramedics/EMS, and would like to say to all of you: We'd all be lost without you. Most of us couldn't dream of doing what you do. You've saved MILLIONS. We all owe you. THANK YOU.

As a truck driver this is by far my biggest fear! Striking someone who’s walking aimlessly on the highway. There no stopping this truck or even slowing it down. We can’t even swerve hard to avoid the person or we will tip over. Driving at those speeds at night, we can only see how far our headlights can show us and by the time we see the object in the road, it’s too late. I can’t even imagine the emotions the truck diver is feeling! Biggest fear in life! I’d be devastated!

The absolute professionalism and courage of those on scene shouldn't be underestimated.

I was a volunteer firefighter. My first call was a train crash. We lost a baby, 4 months and a woman. I will never forget that one and these two. Sometimes it's worse than you could imagine in the worst movie scenario. But there are also the other ones we helped and saved. Many greetings to all who serve to save other lives.

20 long years. Twins drowning ended my career. PTSD ruined my life, my families life and everyone around me. My employer laughed and said there’s nothing they could do when I asked for help. I lost it all. Almost lost my life. I’m still here. All those I couldn’t save are not here. Now I’m left with the death and destruction etched into my brain and a medical system that only wants to push pills. If I had it to do over again I wouldn’t. Sure there’s tons of agencies and organizations who claim to help first responders. I’ve yet to actually see one come through. Thank you for what you do. Don’t bottle your emotions up inside. Seek help. If they say no ask someone else. Don’t give up.
