Eumir Deodato is a Brazilian pianist, composer, arranger, and record producer. He was born on June 22, 1943, in Rio de Janeiro, and is known for blending various genres including jazz, pop, rock, disco, rhythm and blues, classical, Latin, and bossa nova.
Deodato has arranged and produced over 500 albums for a diverse range of artists, including Frank Sinatra, Roberta Flack, Bjork, and Christophe. He also produced Kool & the Gang's hit songs like "Celebration," "Ladies' Night," and "Too Hot." He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 1974 for "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)."
His first U.S. album, "Prelude," was released in 1973 and sold over 5 million copies worldwide. Deodato continues to be active in the music industry, and his music remains beloved by many.
