What is the coldest thing in the world? - Lina Marieth Hoyos

The coldest materials in the world aren’t in Antarctica or at the top of Mount Everest. They’re in physics labs: clouds of gases held just fractions of a degree above absolute zero. Lina Marieth Hoyos explains how temperatures this low give scientists a window into the inner workings of matter, and allow engineers to build incredibly sensitive instruments that tell us more about the universe.

Lesson by Lina Marieth Hoyos, animation by Adriatic Animation.

(joke) One scientist was cooled down to the absolute 0. But he was still 0K...

Wow, it's amazing that even at that low temp, atoms can still move some cm/s!
If you think about their size, it is like a human being able to move at light speeds even in the "slower" state

I believe the coldest thing is my passion for learning when I'm sitting at an extremely boring lecture at my university (as opposed to watching a TEDEd video when my passion fires up).

I think I learned more than half of one semester in our physical sciences subject in a 4 minute video 😃

TED-Ed, your videos help me learn new things everyday in a way that I just keep waiting to watch newer TED-Ed videos.

Not to mention, the quality of animation has improved to such a point, it seems like you can make an animation movie out of this; seriously they are beautiful and just keeps getting better.

Hope this can sustain itself and spread knowledge throughout the world for the nest 100 years.

This reminds me of that iconic dialogue
"He likes it cold".

It's crazy how we can use really low temps to create scientific equipment. That's so beautiful ❤️
