So you mean to say… even if my android phone has 1000mega pixel ultra wide moon blasting recording ultimate it will still look like shlt on social media? Shocking

Just record the video or take the photo with your native camera app and then upload it to the social media. Done. Same quality.

This makes so much sense. When I post to my stories on IG, I felt the quality looked terrible. But if I upload a video onto stories it looks fine.

If you're on android 8 yes, but the camera 2 API fixes it. Most social media apps just haven't adapted it.

Easy tip, take a photo on camera app, then share it from camera roll. Also i want to spread positivity, so have a great day ❤

Actually he's right but with exceptions, the Samsung S22 & S23 series, the google pixel 6, 7, 8 series are such great phones for social media photo/video recording bcz they totally support 3rd party camera apps, I used both of iphone 12 pro max and pixel 7 pro for social media apps and they're both doing great

The WhatsApp stories from my friend with a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold phone have amazing quality and 60fps.😅

Some Androids get around this by using manufacturer-specific camera apps that send camera data to apps

I think the compression methods also have a role to play. Even when I use my Android camera, it still comes out bad sometimes

This is why Android users use their native camera app and then upload the photo/video on Instagram/TikTok/YouTube.

it all suddenly makes so much sense 🤯 Thank you for explaining!

All mobile phones suck at photography due to tiny sensors, rest is just HDR and computational photography, but no matter what, you can't process what you can't see syndrome everywhere.

Imo these sm companies should be able to work with the flagship androids. I understand not working with every single android, but it shouldn't be that difficult to work with the flagships

*Well the smart thing to do is to record or take pictures from the default camera app and then upload it to social media that way you access the full camera capabilities that comes with your android phone* that’s common sense

This is absolute nonsense. Android HAL APIs connect to the underlying OEM drivers for the specific camera hardware. If you are getting bad video its because you have a crap phone with a crap camera or the OEM couldn't be bothered to update their drivers/HAL, you are just using a poorly written app.

This was why I typically took photos and videos outside of the app and then upload them.

Significantly better results

There are Camera2 APIs, Apple probably pays social media companies not to use them.

Android has more freedom then Apple, it can actually do this & even more.

Apple is more for kids, the OS basically hold's your hand while you walk across the street.

Everything you're talking about can literally be changed in developer mode/settings on Android, it gives you full control over the Android as if you're the developer yourself, so none of what your saying true.

This goes for all Androids!

The format creates a huge difference, when I use different format on my android, it looks better gcam vs stock camera
