Because even with all of those ships, the Alliance is notorious for its strength in its navy. And now with the airship that helps take down Deathwing, they also have the most power in the air. So gaining a foothold on Pandaria for resources is an economical advantage that can help build something that CAN punch through the Alliance's defenses. So this patch is more or less a do or die for both sides.

Because Stormwind has a stronger fleet of ships because naval assault is a more imminent threat to them than it is to Orgrimmar and besides they have Kul Tiras at their backs.
The only way they could enter Stormwind is by laying siege to Stranglethorn which is beyond Stormwind's sea territory and advance further from there, but that would still give Stormwind enough time to bolster a defense and hold them back untill reinforcement from Ironforge arrived.

Pandaria is being fought over due to a lack of resources on the Eastern Kingdom's and Kalimdor. Whoever controls Pandaria would have the upper hand of the war

as you should have learned in cataclysm, eastern kingdom and kalimdor are out of natural resources. basically stormwind is as worthless as orgrimmar.
